Now let's see... Jack Nicholson, love the man... George Lucas, we waited for 20 years for a prequel that didn't meet the expectations, but, hey, we still paid for seeing it. Nah, my vote goes to Sir Connery.

Stanley Kubrick. Definately.
Why?
Now that his life is over, we must reflect and look back at the films he has made:
1.Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
2.Full Metal Jacket (1987)
3.Shining, The (1980)
4.Barry Lyndon (1975)
5.Clockwork Orange, A (1971)
6.2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
7.Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)
8.Lolita (1962)
9.Spartacus (1960)
10.Paths of Glory (1957)
11.Killing, The (1956)
12.Killer's Kiss (1955)
13.Fear and Desire (1953

Couldn't agree more....

Stanley Kubrick.

For '2001: A Space Odyssey' alone he is worthy!

The Fish Killer

This is for the Blue.
My vote goes out to the Man himself, the greatest director in history, Mr Stanley Kubrick.
May he rest in peace.

Hard to argue with Stan "The Man" Kubrick.
Kirk Douglas would get my vote if it was for the "Lifetime Award for Cracking Up Interestingly On Camera".

Tough decision......Kubrick and Connery are both more than deserving.

Personal favoritism must come into play, I suppose.

Add another vote for Sir Connery.smiley - smiley

You're right - I mean, he has Bond, he did a brilliant bit in The Untoachables - a great actor....
...but he wasn't in "Dr Strangelove", was he? So, I'm sorry, but it has to be Kubrick.

The Fish

Come on - Timothy Dalton was a far better Bond - had the "cold, avengeful" bit down to an art!
Peter Sellers - he was a good actor. And George Lucas did Star Wars - but my favourite sci-fi is 2001: A Space Odyssey/
So I agree with Matt - and he'll never forgive me if I don't - that it has to be Kubrick.

(Okay, so I said Kubrick - do I get my £5?)

Hmm... no women here, eh? (votes, that is).

Hmm... well, hmm... Connery is good, Kubrick already was awarded 3 lifetime achievement awards, so I don't think he deserves another... huh... Fine, I'm going for Anthony Hopkins.

Irving Washington - Gone Writing

I voted for Sir Sean Connery in the other forum, and I stand by that. I also plan to forego my usual pacifist ideals to say that I will fight -- to the death -- anyone who thinks of breathing an utterence of a word to tell me that there was a better Bond than Connery. TO THE DEATH, do you hear me?

I'd like to give my vote to Mr Connery as well. He acted so cool for an old bloke in films like `The Rock`.
Although I really like the actor Gary Oldman, I mean, maybe not the Lifetime Achievement type but a great actor. Don't you think???
