I hope all of you have been well, and I am sorry that I've been incommunicado for so long. As Prof said, my last smartphone crashed out a couple of weeks ago. The battery died, and a safety circuit

tripped due to the excessive heat and humidity that had been here in August and early September. I am babying the replacement as best I can..I don't want my service carrier to cut me off due to reckless use.

I'm living in the wrong world. I don't want my phone to be mobile. I will gladly leave it where it is and come back to it when I need it.

I am much the same way,Paul. These things are oft times such a distraction. I don't know why other people insist on walking around looking at their phone instead of their immediate surroundings.
Then, there are those who drive and text,etc.

In any case, I'm happy to be back.

It's probably a phase they are going through, just as every new version of the popular phones is soon replaced by an even newer one. And who's complaining? Not the customers, who think their day just got better. Not the workers at the company, who earn a wage making them. Not the people who buy stock in the companies that make them -- as long as the dividends get paid and the stock goes up.

So what if the phones contain possibly hazardous materials which get into the groundwater if they accidentally get dropped into storm drains or carted to landfills? So what if people cut back on necessities to afford to buy them?

I feel that I'm helping the environment and the financial future of my heirs by not buying them.
