All well, here. I am not in any of the fire zones, and there has been no sign of the heavy winds that have affected much of the Los Angeles area. Hopefully we won't see those.

Much of California seems to survive because there's enough water in the northern part of the state to irrigate the southern part. The southernmost parts seem to use water piped in from the Colorado River.

I have a fantasy in which some of the Mississippi's water is channeled west through Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. All of those states have arid sections that could use the water. If enough could be channeled, large ships could carry cargoes from the heartland across to the West Coast.

Well, you are sounding a bit like our resident!!

One thing that your idea would do is to lessen an iron grip that California has on the Southwest's water supply. We really set up some really nasty legal agreements that have made us dependent on an increasingly unreliable Colorado River source.
