What? It's staying above 100 degrees Fahrenheit there all week? When I look at the map, I see that it's equally distant from both Los Angeles and Las Vegas, which has significantly hotter weather this week.

Here in Boston, we poke up into the low nineties every few days, and that's about as hot as we get.

And we have so much vegetation that shade is usually not far away.

Eighty years ago, the crazy side of my mother's family left Michigan and went to California. My mother proved her sanity by coming east to the Boston area.

But it's okay to be in California if you were born there. Or if you're near San Francisco or points further north. Probably I'm somewhat insane, too, since I like that area a lot.

I hope I haven't insulted Mad Snacker . The East Coast is green, verdant, and too cold half the year. To a Californian, it must seem inexplicable why anyone would not want to be warm all the time. I guess it's a mystery.

Everything seems new and clean, lots of promise around everywhere, even the local streets seem cleansed from their grime.

Hi, !! Sorry to have been a stranger!!

Our local rabbits are busy eating clover, which is in ample supply now. It's only in the Spring that they get hungry for other things. This year, I protected those other things by spraying them with rabbit-repellent. Most of the plants that got eaten by bunnies have sprouted new foliage by now, and seem likely to bloom. I've taken extra good care of them.....

The British are like that about the weather, the climate is capable of extremes; too hot too cold too wet or too windy.

We're in the middle of a three-day heat wave here in Boston. High nineties every afternoon, with night temps around eighty. Hard to sleep when it;'s that hot.

brit's = it's hot we want it cold--it's cold we want it hota country of moaners

The temps went down a long way yesterday. Today's high will be about 69, but the area will gradually warm up over the next seven days. It'll end up in the high eighties.

For now, I'm relaxing. I see rain falling outside.

global warming = chop down millions of acre's of rain forests THAT weather conditions/rain etc has to go elsewhere and ends up in countries NOT used to that amount of rain and stuffhence - flooding/landslides/droughts and forest fires, the list goes on

Apparently it doesn't go above 79 degrees (F) in July in Yorkshire. If it goes to, say, 81, will there be massive mortality?

And the winter lows are not bad at all: roughly 12 degrees (F). You have it really good there.

Our temperature roller coaster is heading back to the nineties over the course of four or five days. It's comfortable now, though...

When I was in Los Angeles on holiday in the early 1980's with 2 mates we visited 6 Flags Mountain - we were told it was 40 mile out into the desert and that by the time we'd get there, the temp would be around 100%F plus -argh! it reached 113%F and MY shoulders were crying as I'd "burnt" them 3 days before on Santa Monica beach

I was in Florence (Italy) in 2007. It was 103 there the day I visited. I don't remember being especially uncomfortable that day.
