Hmmm... yes... all good points... except for the fact it's all bad for us. Let us protest and blockade all the entrances to parliament! Yes!

Chris Tonks Posted Sep 14, 2000
You know, I *honestly* do not know *why* we haven't done that yet...
It would hellishly annoy parliament, police and whoever would find it a bit of a squeeze getting through, and it wouldn't harm anyone's lives, apart from nicking a couple of hours from their days...
We oughtta go that you know...

Yeah...hope indeed...we'll make it...
*No, he is not going to say 'We're British', a) because some people aren't, and b) he's increadably unpatriotic...*

I suppose it would be too much for a college student who gets no international news except off of the internet, and who hasn't been able to access the internet since Friday to ask what, exactly, has been going on?

It's always the little business that gets bonked and the big ones survive to squeeze another day.
Missed you, Irv!

Hello Irving, long time no see
Basically after the problems in France last week, Britain decided to follow suit and have blockaded all the refineries in Britain, stopping the movement of petrol to Petrol stations around the country, thus the ran out, and everybody is on reduced services, or carless. It has got to the stage that buses are not running either, however, our illustrious leader MR Blair would not back down, so he sent the troops in to get the trucks rolling again. We should be back to normal soon enough. The protesters have all but given up, but get this, the petrol prices have risen by at least 4p per litre, which was a scheduled price hike anyway, and another reason that sparked off the outrage and fury!
Unfortunately i have to bite the bullet and pay whatever, because woring shifts I have to have a car. The Public Transport system cannot cater for my needs.
Hope that helps

As a matter of fact one of the articles in that link I posted (and incidentally the full thing is the link, commas and all) says that as of 5PM the price hike is *not* going ahead, at least with one petrol company...

True SM, Shell are not puting their prices up yet.

All the better for everybody!

Hopefully things will stabilize for a long while. No one wins anywhere in this scenario.

Peter aka Krans Posted Sep 14, 2000
Yes, that is an important consideration...

Thank you, that clears some things up.

We're flattered... I myself am still rather confused by the entire matter...

Does anyone here think that "Expert" mode has any real usefulness?

*trots in*
My, but it's been ages. Hello, all.
*glances warily about for the cleaning 'bot, then relaxes*
Blackcurrant tea, please, llEM.

Expert mode baffled me utterly. Aside from that nifty tree-graphic, l'm not sure of the advantages, though surely they must exist...
*notices the time; furrows her brow*
Better make that tea to go...'s later than l thought...
*nabs her tea and ducks out again with a wave*

*waves to Odra*
So what does the Expert choice allow one to have?

*floating in, in her usual vague, elf-like manner*
Hi all!
IIEM, a café mélange, please!
*sits down by Ludo board to finish the game*
ox, I'm wondering about the Expert-mode, too... tried it, but didn't have time to investigate it thoroughly...
*happily unconcerned by petrol problems, doesn't have and never has had a car*
Key: Complain about this post
