Caretaker Counter Part 12

Bad news for Ook. A big, 7.9, earthquake overnight in Sumatra. Quite a few humans were killed. No news on how the orangutans got on.
Silent females; Cloistered nuns, Egyptian mummys, female kakapos.....

When I lived in England, I had a set of Denby earthenware, a pattern called Cotswold. And the cups were wonderful. A bit oversized, very round. And the texture!! They were completely, finely, prickled on the outside so it was like holding a cockleburr. The outside was brown, the inside and the rim (tapered) was creamy white.
Thak you, Redbeard, for reminding me of those cups.

Glad I jogged your memory, Lil Sometimes it's just a matter of asking questions until the person realizes what was there all along!
*lowers voice*
I would guess, Loony, that they got on OK... They can be much smarter than humans about their relationship with the environment, and probably were well on their way away from the epicenter before humans even knew it was coming. Plus, they tend to avoid living in poorly designed high-rise buildings.

Cloistered nuns = silent females? Looney there's a movie I got to take you to see.
I have heard that orangs frequently fall out of trees anyway; they commonly find fracture scars in the bones of the wild ones. Do you think Ook has any close relatives back there?

As far as Ook's relatives... I'm not sure I understand the IIEM well enough to answer that.

I'm no expert on this but doesn't the Mother Superior speak on behalf of the nuns in her nunnery. Do they take a vow of silence like some monks and priests?
As I understand it Ook is a Sumatran orangatan. Has the story of how he travelled from his homeland to h2g2 been told?

Oops I forgot about the movie Lil. Which one? Carry On Cleopatra features some talking mummies.

I was here, I saw it happen. Ook came about by parthogenesis, not unlike the way Athena sprang fully-armoured from the frontal lobes of Zeus.
Affi had run in and borrowed some parts from the IIEM in order to defend himself from imminent death, as usual. In the interim before he brought the parts back, the IIEM behaved strangely (moreso). Vladimir ordered a Blue Sumatran, which was the special, ad the IIEM produced Ook.
*goes over to machine* I wonder if it still does this. *speaks into grille* I'd like a hot chocolate, but I can't afford it.
*IIEM produces hot choc and a ten dollar bill*
Ah, it got my accent right this time.
Looney, I was thinking of The Sound of Music. Not the Sing-Along.
Key: Complain about this post
