Well. A handicap for Redbeard in the next race.
Looney, I think of your screed on early Dr. Who every time I do the interim performance art bits on these threads. It's become clear to me that those old episodes were actually written for radio.

Lonnytunes - Winter Is Here Posted Jun 4, 2000
Lil, you could very well be correct. In my view the best part of the early shows was the music - a radio-friendly medium

Redbeard, Looney very amusing described watching an old Dr. Who episode where several baddies run through undergrowth and periodically stop in a clearing to inform each other where they've been, where they're going, and why

That's great! Of course, Dr. Who episodes didn't worry that much about following any standard 'television' rules, but that does sound like it might have been a radio script.
*suddenly wishes Dr. Who was still playing in this area*

Hi, F??h
Video... not a bad idea. I'll have to see if I can rent them locally. I'd consider buying them, but... the video store two doors down from me went out of business a month ago, and sold everything, so I bought over 100 videos. They were very cheap, but still... my budget has put a moratorium on purchasing videos

My Dr Who review was used by the h2g2 Post. It lives at http://www.h2g2.com/A335477
This is the bit Lil is refering to... Even the cavemen in their ill-disguised BBC vowels, have long exchanges about what has just happened and what to do next.
'Zar has killed the Old Woman!' 'The Old Woman is dead?' 'Yes it is so.' 'Where is Zar?' 'He is gone.' 'Gone? Where has he gone?' 'He is not here. We must find him!' 'Yes, we must find Zar!'
Then you get to see each caveman running through the 'jungle' - in fact, bouncing about on a trampoline with a fierce expression while the props department sticks fronds and twigs in his face, for BBC studios were not immense in those days. Then the chasing party will come to a halt in A Clearing for more chattipoos.

*serves up orders uncertainly*
Are you still there Tabitha?
I love that passage, Looney. As I said on the list, it brings back Tarzan, Jungle Jim, Buck Rogers, and even the Lone Ranger. More innocent times.
"Go into town, Tonto."
