A Conversation for Ask h2g2

There are so many clubs on h2g2 but me and a couple of others have an idea for a new one.
Do we need permission to do this?
And can we do it by simply creating a new user?
Does anybody know?
Thanks in advance!

I may be wrong but I think that to a large extent you just write a guide entry about the club and then, when enough legitimate interest is shown, point it out the the italics.
I reckon that there are certain threads that have become inadvertant clubs anyway, so I can't see you starting one being a problem.
I might of course be very, very wrong.

BTW, to write a guide entry, click on the 'Write An Entry' button (to the left if you're viewing in Brunel).

Ooh, I don't know about creating a new user, but that shouldn't be necessary. Once you create a guide entry it can gave its own conversations etc (see here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/U150368 ) so a 'new user' won't be necessary.

Sorry, that should be 'see here for an example'.

Ohvery much!!!
That's much simpler
So you can go ahead and write a guide entry about whatever?
I thought they all got reviewed and such... still pretty new.

Nah. They only get reviewed if you put 'em up for it (tiv=ck the 'not for peer review' button before you post the entry). There are many places you can put it, but I'm pretty sure you can just leave it floating about on its own.

Just checked - you just submit it in its own right without putting it anywhere specific.

Yes, you can use Guide Entries for whatever you want to use them for Though it is nice if every Reseacher wrote at least one Entry for the Edited Guide, maybe when you are more used to h2g2 you can do that
Just to make sure no one submits your Club to Peer Review (as has happened to some) would you please tick the 'Not For Review' box
One way to advertise you club is to add it to and the A number to your name tag, or asking <./>ThePost</.> to advertise it, once it's all set up.
What's you club going to be about, if you don't mind me asking.

To clarify, it's only entries for the edited guide that get reviewed (not strictly true, but I don't want to do your head in with the AWW etc. Not yet anyway)
Go for it. So long as it doesn't break the house rules you should be OK.

Well my 42ism is 1x7x7+1+8-8-8=42.
Firey_opaleye's also works with x x + + - -
And we've recruited bedmechanic today because it works with his.
We are going to write a prophecy as we have already decided that The Chosen One will have a 42ism that works with xx++-- and --++xx
We're really just enjoying ourselves

It's nice to find so many helpful people
Regarding the above link... there's a bit on the second last or last page where I got *really* carried away with manipulating my U number

We're both simulposting
Mind if I give you a tip roymondo
Take a look at <./>NamedEntries</.> it shows you how to do the selected plain text links such as <./>ThePost</.> and <./>HouseRules</.> but becareful to spell them correct, as <./>anything</.> can look like a link, most of us get them wrong sometimes.
