A colleague aad I have just come up with a way of iimproving our work place and making everyone happier.
No more pens and pencils. All writing must now be done in crayon. Computers to use 'crayon sans'.
How could YOUR work place be improved?

Why not more pen and pencils? I would protest if I were there!
use those ones that are comfortable to grasp and that move smoothly on paper.
Plants, lots of them.
a store of Chocolate and other delicacies to be had in group
A portable expresso machine or a good coffee expresso pot. Use coffee fresh grounded. So a grinder is needed too.
agree on a time when , in turns, you will choose a piece of music apt to work calmly and relaxed.
Hire a phisiotherapist that once a week, help each one of you to stretch, give massages on your neck, back...

-we have filter coffee and while it's not fresh ground it is pretty damned good
-we have a lot of plants, and someone to come and look after them once a month
-my team has a cocktail bar

I'd like to say that I improved my workplace by retiring from it, but I keep running into people that wish I had kept working

oddly, over the years, one way or another, my workplace, has, when I've had work, mainly been exactly where I'm sitting now... - at home, in front of the PC, in my so-called 'studeo room', surrounded by guitars, amps, HiFi equipment, speakers, bits of computers, and the computer snd stuff itself - not sure having it so close to my bedroom and kitchen ever improved it much, to be honest... though it was handy if I fancied a nap during the day and ment I could then work when awake circa 4 AM with insomnia

One school I worked at for a short while had Cake Fridays lunch times.One department would provide cake for all in the staffroom.It was a hard place to work in because it had the worst intake and more social problems than all the other schools in the area so it was a great way to make the last afternoon of the week less horrendous.
Of course it would have been nice to have something similar for Monday mornings..
