As Icy says, Alabaster is fine.

The odd problems that H2G2 seems to have from time to time seem to effect everything other than Alabaster.

I've seen all sorts of problems. This one indeed has all the hallmarks of being created deliberately

It might be a subtle compliment aimed at longterm members who already know how to get to Ask H2G2. the newbies who sign up for Pliny need help locating Ask, and there it is for them.

h2g2 is not just Ask

Back in September last year weren't you creating a town or something for some competition - what happened to that?

Ps: I came back recently because I could see some interesting conversation occurring from the front page.

pps: I'll probably now look at the "latest activity" section & retire to my personal section where I have links (subscription to conversations) to on - going discussion.

Maybe Science Explained has had its day and could safely be merged with AskH2g2 (?)

Look at The Lounge

So the lounge isn't a new forum then

It is in the same way that every entry, edited or not, on h2g2 has a forum attached to it. You can go to the Lounge and start a conversation directly off it, or on the one page see the latest activity in not just Ask, but in Misc Chat, the Games Room and Science Explained

Was there a special consultation page opened? Silicon Dioxide seems to have missed it if there was. Unless it was the Volgons that were consulted

ps I do realise however that the main point of H2G2 is the guide, peer review etc. The attraction to writers is that they get feedback on how to improve their writing and a permanent place to showcase their work if accepted

I think the idea was to get the riff raff out of askh2g2.

I have an inkling that several researchers have a lounge of their own. An institutional Lounge seems a bit of an arrogative imposition, if you Ask me.

There was a thread in Ask over a year ago, which led to the core team spending quite a while discussing different ideas from that, which led to all the volunteers being sent out mock ups of screen shots of the ideas, which led to tweaks and amendments, which led to what you know see

As "Announce" is still on the front page (and I note the demise of QOTD is mentioned there), how about mentioning that Ask is now concealed under part of the metaphore soup that is the navigation bar?
