Policy or faux pas?

Neither, the old Ripley skins haven't been touched in ages.

Just checking it, the link to Ask is still on the static Brunel front page.


We have however changed the Pliny front page, a full announcement about it will be coming soon (a few of us are still travelling/hungover from the Manchester meet )

I can still see Ask on the old Brunel Front Page (although it took me a bit of hunting to find that page).

Hmmmm. My preferences say Brunel and if I look at the front-page source the ask-div is explicitly commented out.

I've tried on a separate computer where I'm not signed in and it still goes straight from the "h2g2 announcements" section to "latest activity"

.. is commented out "<!--" etc.

Can I just add that it works fine in Alabaster

Those sections are all on Pliny, not Brunel

I only asserted that it was Brunel because when I interrogate my settings, that is what it lists as my skin.

Well then. Same conversation with a different title.

If it's a white/blue/grey colour skin, it's Pliny

Even if Ask was missing from the Brunel front page, you could still get to it by connecting to one of the Ask conversations and then go to Ask at the top of that page.

Turqoise with clouds? Then that'ld be the one.

So. "Ask" seems to have vanished from my front page (Having been commented out in the delivered html): Policy or faux pas?

At the top of this page, it says "This is the conversation forum for Ask H2G2."

I'm only saying that you can get to it without going to the front page. I have *never* used the front page to get to Ask. Why should I? The front Page in Alabaster doesn't get updated, while many of the most popular Ask threads get added to on a daily basis.

I'm probably just lazy. I read the latest Ask posts and can go directly to Ask from any one of them, bypassing the unnecessary front page.

Is the policy to do away with AskH2g2 or at least to marginalise it? Is it an attempt to steer remaining members towards peer review?

Absolutely not It's to de-marginalize Misc Chat, Games Room and ScienceEx
