Things named after Plants and Flowers
Bluebottle Started conversation May 1, 2014
This months' Create theme is 'Plants and Flowers'. (See: A87828529 May Create: Plants and Flowers). Not a theme I know a great deal about, but I'm sure the h2g2 community as a whole has a vast wealth of experience in the topic.
So I'd like to ask What can you think of that's named after a plant or flower?
For example, Steam Railways often are, such as:
Bluebell Line
Lavender Line
Watercress Line

It isn't always obvious which came first, the flower or the object. Ladyslippers, for example, might have been named after actual slippers. Foxgloves after gloves. Queen Anne's lace.
There are proper names that seem to have originated with flower names: Iris, Daisy, Lobelia, Viola, Buttercup, Rose, probably more.

I've been on that one, and I work quite close to where it set sail from in Southampton.

re3al estate developments often take interesting names.
"Sunflower estates" is a common name for developments in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Maine, and probably many other states and principalities.
Charleston, South Carolina has a tourist destination called "Magnolia Plantation," which dates back more than a century.
Norton, Massachusetts has a dog breeding facility called Rose Manor. Louisiana has a bed and breakfast called Rose Manor. Pittsfield, Massachusetts has a development for elderly/disabled tenants called Rose Manor.

Magnolia itself is, of course named after the Latin for 'big oil'.

When you get up in the morning, you might pour yourself a cup of jasmine tea and get a morning glory muffin on a Pfaltzgraf "Tea Rose" plate [or, alternatively, an "Old Country Roses" plate]. Then you do some yoga, practicing the lotus pose.
