Help! I need a bbci player!

At least I think that's what it's called. Does anyone know where I can download one for my Kindle? I can see it in the Amazon App Store, but it says it's not currently available. I'm guessing that's because I'm in the US. Any ideas?

It looks like even the subscription global iplayer isn't available in the USA. http://www.youtube.com/BBCiplayerglobal

The great (ha ha) thing about it is that you can go to the BBC World Service site on your phone, then accept their offer to download the app so you can listen on the phone, only to get told that it is "not available in your area". Hallo? The "World" is my area. The world does not consist entirely of the UK.
Broelan, you can only use the iplayer for radio unless you live in the UK and are a licence fee payer. Don't ask me how you pay for a licence if you live abroad. The BBC could make a fortune from us expats and otherwise interesteds who want to use it for TV programmes. Then you could catch up at a time suitable to your own time zone, as well as checking out programmes you have heard people talking about on the radio.

Ah. Mina's answer was better than mine. Now I've got to find out if the global i-player is available "in my area"

Did you find out TC? It did say Germany I think.

Yes - it does say Germany, but it's only for apple products. I don't think I even know anyone who has an i-phone, and I certainly don't myself. Nor any of the other "i"s.

try "expat shield" (giyf)
It slows your internet connection, doesn't always work very well during peak hours and inserts ads at the top of your browser... but:
a) It's free
b) It fools the BBC's servers into thinking you're in the UK

If you are prepared to pay a couple of quid a month you can get a really good VPN connection that won't throttle your bandwidth.
I use SwitchVPN costs me about 3 quid a month and is really handy.
