Well having seen the new Star Trek film I am still feeling mildly optimistic about Star Wars Episode 7.
THough given the "lightness" of the Star Trek films so far I am sure I am not going to get my dream title:-
Star Wars Episode 7: The Genocide of the Gungans
Still a girl can dream!

Ah, the rumours of titles. I remember the news when it was announced that the title for 'The Phantom Menace' was definitely going to be 'Balance of the Force'....
Good news that it's being made back at Pinewood. Perhaps we'll finally find out what happened to Captain Panacka who was replaced by the identical Captain Typhoo when production moved to New Zealand.

I've just seen the new Trek movie (well, most of it, which is another story), and Benedict Cumberbatch was really, really good.
However, I just wouldn't be able to work with the guy.
There's no way I'd be able to stop myself, every time he had a line, from shouting ...
"aaaaaannndd......... cue Cumberbatch!"

Spoiler Alert
So when the movie started, I thought maybe we had Dr Who meets Star Trek when Kahn first entered the picture
then it started to look a little like Matrix meets Dr Who and then they meet Star Trek -
THEN when the admiral's daughter showed up and I began to feel like one of Mel Gibson's Lethal Weapon girlfriends
(the blond south african who wound up in the bay) was in the mix too
I am NOT dissing the movie - it was great, even moving - but not as good as its predecessor.
But then it would be hard to follow its predecessor since its predecessor fulfilled so many hopes.
But a few things threw me off
Both the new leading actors have englishy accents
all the planets in the ending credits are multi systems and are dead and/or blown apart
whats his name, the villain, is yes awesome, actually too awesome, he takes away from our main guys
whats her name, the admiral's daughter, is so cookie cutter she really doesn't stand out - a dime a dozen englishy blond
he needed to be somewhat less, she needed to be somewhat more
I feel like JJ maybe didn't have it quite as together as the last one.
Maybe it was because he was following an old plot line with old characters too closely.
That may have interfered with his creativity.
What do you think?

The trailer I saw was mostly the end of 'Return of the Jedi', so I'm still waiting.
Anyone seen 'Star Wars Rebels' - the latest spin off? Is that any good?

It looked gratifyingly like proper Star Wars.

This was out hours after the official trailer. I still haven't seen the official trailer. I don't care how amazing that looks. I've got issues with Disney and after the prequels I've fallen out of love with Star Wars. Maybe I'll see it on video.
That said, I am curious about a reported edit of the prequels done by That 70's Show's, Topher Grace, that excises much of what made the prequels so noxious. We may never get a chance to see the full 85 minute version though as it was screened just once.

It didn't hype me, but yes, it has a good 'proper Star Wars' feel to it.
