Are your hatches battened?

Looks like a good storm is on the way. http://www.clickgreen.org.uk/news/national-news/122904-met-office-issues-strongest-possible-weather-warning-as-storm-of-the-decade-heads-in.html

"Jonathan Powell of Positive Weather Solutions told ClickGreen he had never seen such a "violent and vicious storm" and warned people to take great care.

“This is an extremely rare storm with winds reaching speeds well above severe gale force,” he added. “This has the equivalent strength of Hurricane Katia that hit the US earlier this year."

Coo. I've asked the cats to stay inside. Anybody else taking special precautions?

Stirling. We get a terrible wind out of the Trossachs at the best of times.

It's the weather presenters I feel sorry for, whenever the weather gets bad they seem to feel the need to send the presenter out into the middle of it so we can see them all suffering.

Whenever I think of The Trossachs, I'm tempted to say 'No, I always walk like this. (Way-hey!)'

Actually, I'm lying. Normally I think of the David Marshall Lodge just outside Aberfoyle.

No specific warnings on the Beeb:

Thurs

'Starting wet and very windy with heavy rain, and some sleet over Stirlingshire initially. Clearing to blustery showers by noon, these wintry and frequent later. Gales then storm force winds'

Pah. Sleet's to good for them.

Wind shown as 37mph, but. Chain those cats down.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-16068145

"Transport Scotland has said there is a risk of major travel disruption in light of a Met Office red warning of wind in parts of the country.

The weather alert covers Central, Tayside, Fife, Strathclyde, south west Scotland, Lothian and the Borders.

There could be gusts of up to 90mph in exposed places in the areas affected.

The Met Office has issued its highest level of warning over severe winds expected to affect much of central and southern Scotland from 10:00 on Thursday until 06:00 on Friday.

It said police had advised that conditions for travel would be "extremely poor" and there was the likelihood of "significant delays".

A red warning advises people to take action to prepare for the severe weather and they are only issued "a few times a year".

You're right. No specific warning on the Beeb at all.

Some green peeps will no doubt put it down to globular warning, but I'm not convinced. I am doing my bit for greenhouse gases reduction by turning my parafin heater off during the day in my greenhouses.

Y'know in a sojourn I had in Italy once I told them (upon a red sky in the evening) that we had the

Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning thang

and was blithely informed that they had the same thing.

smiley - huh

and there was me thinking that it was just the rhyme... surely the translation is not rhyming....
