Sorry most of that got deleated. I'm not sure what I pressed.
I ate at Veged Out in Birmingham. I had a scrambled tofu, aubergine bacon, homemade baked beans and a hash brown.

a) Frankie & Bennies. Order something that's not easy to cock up and it will be great. Try and find someone else to drive - their cocktails are great.
b) The chicken goujon is what you often buy in supermarkets as 'mini-fillets': the strip of flesh that attaches the breast to the wing...

Ooh, ta MB! Have yet to try the cocktails, but will do that! (It's about 2 miles from my house so a taxi ride home would not be extortionate)

The Plough Inn - Near Bewdley
Three courses for £11.95
First course I had was ham hock with quail's scotch egg.
Main course was a carvery - 4 different meats and 12 different vegetables.
Desert was a rhubarb combo thing - rhubarb ice cream, rhubarb jelly, rhubarb trifle and rhubarb crème brûlée.
I would show you the menu (and be able to glean better descriptions from it) but the website is currently 'being updated' - http://www.theploughinn.org/

Aubergine bacon sounds interesting, Storm.
We ate out at La Croissanterie in Bath at the weekend. Very nice quiche with side salad, and the quiche was really deep, delicious and filling. The toasted cheese baguette that one of us had was very tasty too. None of our meals came to more than four quid, eating in. Will definitely be going back there again.

We went to Le Cafe Saint Honore in Edinburgh for our date night last night. It was a little pricey but it was utterly amazing food.

Was out this afternoon, about 1 PM, had lunch in a little cafe, which is always quite decent, and cheap... Couple cups of black coffee which tasted like coffee and a home-made ham and cheese quiche, with some salad and home made coldslaugh

I took Laura to a new Korean/Japanese restaurant called Wokooshii. It was really good.

The owner himself came over to explain some of the stuff we had - great service, lovely food.

Wokooshi soundds worth a try. I love the Yang Sing.
I ate at Food with Benefits in Birmingham. I had freshly baked sourdough with haloumi, chilli, hummus and watercress. It was very good and quite cheap (£2). However there were signs advertising the anti-oxidant properties of coffee that required far too much thinking about. I like to make my own judgements on food benefits.

I had prepared myself for spending my birthday eating alone in Cardiff (I live such a tragic life). There was a restaurant that a colleague had recommended which I intended to visit (well he had described it as perfectly tolerable and near to the hotel). Two of my brothers came and kidnapped me and took me to the one-stop thali in Bristol which is amongst my favourite restaurants in the country. They have expanded the menu somewhat and now have a choice of 4 thali’s in the evening (vegan, vegetarian, fish or chicken) but the principal is that they cook fresh seasonal food and you eat what they cook. The thali consists of 3 curries, rice and pickles. It was really good. The café is really cosy and homely with wooden tables, benches and cushions. The staff are warm and friendly and it’s quite cheap (less than £10 per person).

I ate at Food with Benefits in Birmingham. I had a sourdough ciabatta with cheese, fancy salad and onion marmalade. The proprietor still hasn’t offered me the sex I feel is implied by his business name but our encounters are becoming more intimate. Today he required that I smell his fingers so it may be a matter of time.

The Horseshoe Stratford Road
I had a straight forward T-Bone, but the curries looked really nice, and the nan I pinched was light and tasty.
On minor moan - I love grilled tomatoes - I don't need the vine with them.
