h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Inspired by Torchwood, what would happen if next Wednesday, there was no afternoon. And the day after, there was no afternoon. Morning flowed seamlessly into evening.

Would Jeremy Kyle viewers believe their watches? Would Steve Wright fans lose the will to live?

What other unforeseen consequences would follow afternoons just ... not ... happening?

Hubby would have been pleased with that 2 weeks ago...

One severe consequence would be missing my afternoon power-nap at around 2.30!!
Heavens, I'd be no use at all by 4.

Well, from a work pov- our sales would be down, as we make most of our money in the afternoons right now. World wide legal implication- we have worked from 9-6 as our contract demands, but only done 3hrs work- how much do we get paid?

There would not be, an appropiate time fo within which to eat buttered crumpets, cucumber sandwichs, and nice little cakes and we'd not have the oppertunity to listen to the Archers repeat... and, we'd not be able to spend the afternoon sitting out in the sun in the beer garden at the local, or watching the local cricket team play on the park...Mothers and children would not walk along to the local park, and feed the ducks and geese and the ducks and geese would get hungry, and thin... anarexic ducks and geese... We would not, be able, on Sundays in particular, to enter, lazily into the long dark teatime of the soul... and, probbly, I'd never get the bledin housework done in time to sit down for dinner... no afternoon plate of biscuits and tea... quite a reduction in actually I'd imagine, what with all the decline in afternoon cricket matches, and there really would be a big bit of a missing day, within which one would no longer be able to ... you know... in the afternoon... like... It would, though, I guess, stop teh big rush of cars along to, and back from the schools... so drastical help reduce 4X4 traffic on the roads...

I've never seen Torchwood, but surely there must something after noon?

On the plus side, I'd only have to work mornings!! Yippeee!

Yeah, but on the minus side, we'd still have mornings. If we're going to axe a certain part of the day can it please be the bit where I'm grumpy and horrible and not quite with it?

I'd rather there was no morning. I don't mind afternoons, but mornings are just too... morningy for me, if you see what I mean.
Seriously though, waking up in the afternoon and working all afternoon and then off to bed. Then the next afternoon, do the same again. How cool would that be?

Has anybody considered the impact on elevenses? I mean, one has barely scoffed down a Kit Kat, two large scones and a battered hob nob, and it will be dinner time!
