A Conversation for Ask h2g2

Possibly the single most important upshot of the move to noohootoo

The Twiggster

One user in another thread has "stipulated" that their contributions to h2g2 NOT be handed over to the new owners. Good luck enforcing that if you ever clicked "Yes" to the BBC's T&Cs. As a comment on that, a member of h2g2c2 committee mentioned that everyone would be emailed to let them know what was going on.

Now... presumably, part of the handover would include the account details of every account on the site. Which would include an email address for every account on the site. Every account there's ever been.

And as part of the move to noohootoo, presumably, the committee could email every single person who's ever been a member, and let them know what's happening. Sure, some, even most, of those email addresses will be dead. But maybe, just maybe, not all of them are. Maybe, possibly, some old former members will return.

Maybe....

...just maybe...

... when the committee actually have their hands on his email address and maybe, just maybe, can get in touch with him...

...nighthoover may return.

Frankly, I'd crawl over broken glass to be the one to write the email inviting him back.

"Hi... do you remember joining this website all those years ago. Well... it's moving. Wanna come back? Oh, and btw... you're worshipped as a god there.

Yours sincerely..."

Seriously, people - do we get nighthoover's email address??? And if so, we ARE going to ask him back, right?

Not the monkey - Skreeeeeeeeeeeee

Im happy for my contributions, such as they are, to be handed over but Ive stated elsewhere that they might as well be given Creative Commons licensing because that is how I shall treat them. My attitude is the same towards the BBCs current copyright, irrespective of what Ts&Cs button Ive pressed.

Vanuatu is also where they speak Bislama. The great actor, impresario and historian of ventriloquism Ken Campbell was an advocate for Bislama as a world language. He had a monologue in which he told a Ken Dodd joke in it (What a fine day for shoving a cucumber through the vicars door and shouting The Martians are coming!).

I wonder what the Bislama is for Nighthoover?

kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

Hardly the most important upshot. I'd have thought that who's responsible for cleaning the back cupboard before we leave was more important.

Nighthoover? Isn't that why they built the LHC...to try and see whether he exists?
