Gnomon - time to move on Posted Jul 2, 2011
I'm pretty sure that my fan club was the last one to be set up, and it died a death, until revived a few days ago.

Oh, but I *did* look it through before making post 354.
And yes, GAS is older, but I didn't really think of that as a "Fan Club" even though it's of course a fan club. If you get what I mean.

There are lots of later clubs than yours, Gnomon. With anything from two till several thousand posts.

What about the tradition of writing actions with asterixes ?
*Looks around for an asterix brush, but gives up almost immediately.*

Where people include what they are doing in the conversation.

TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office Posted Jul 21, 2011
I think writing with asterisks is a pre-h2g2 tradition deriving from chat programs.
If you type "XYZ", other people in the chat will see "TRiG: XYZ", whereas if I type "* XYZ", other people in the chat will see "TRiG XYZ". The colon is gone, and my name may not be in bold type.
I don't do internet chat much, but I think that's quite common in a lot of chat programs.
TRiG.

Malabarista - now with added pony Posted Sep 8, 2011
It was invented by Dr. Erika Fuchs, a lady I shall write an entry on someday. She is fascinating.

Mala - you always seem to find the most obscure but equally interesting things to write about. I'll await this one with pleasure. I hope you get good internet connection in your new home!

Not obscure, lanza - just non Anglo-centric.
She translated the Donald Duck comics into German - very cleverly indeed. She also developed a cult following among German journalists who tried to sneak little Fuchs (or ducks) references and in-jokes into serious headlines and news stories.
Key: Complain about this post
