Help! Help! I've been kidnapped by the 1970's

People don't?
That's worrying, about 1/2 of my music has female vocalists, and I've got tunes going back to John Johnson.
Mind you, I also have CD's of Edith Piaf, Robbie Williams and (mumblemumble) Now! albums, so I'm in no position to boast about any kind of quality control.

Having half your music be by women is pretty unusual. Mine's much higher of course but then I'm a freak

Medallion will only look good with a chest wig, sideburns, moustache, perm and big sunglasses. Oh, and a shirt open to the navel.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who thinks the women on that website look better without that cheap tat in their hair.

Ignoring for the moment the ugly horrors of disco, stadium rock, the Village People, Elton John, 'Jaws', 'Patton' and 'Star Wars', the worst thing about the 70s was the musical 'Grease', a supposed tribute to the glory days of late 50s Rock and Roll.
Instead of honouring and deifying that great age of revolution and liberation it reduced it to a two dimensional mockery of greasy ducktail haircuts and multi-layered crinolines.
It missed entirely the coming of age of individuality and the rise of youthful optimism as the hope for the future. It fails to recognise that the 50s was the flower of freedom growing out of WW2 which then bore the fruit of the 60s.
'Grease' serves as a model for how quickly the present disappears into the past and how easily our memories are corrupted and dreams dashed and washed away. Yes, times change but how fragile are the freedoms occasionally won.
I offer you this wisdom in hopes that the current wave of 80s nostalgia not seduce you into forgetting that 80s was a reactionary age of selfish hedonism, self indulgence and cocaine addiction.

I count 25 albums in my collection in which the primary lead vocalist is female. That comes to maybe 1/5 of all my music, but then quite a bit of it is metal, in which women are very much the exception.
