After many years of eating mayonaisse on sandwiches etc. I have finally come back to good old salad cream. What is my point I hear you say. Well there is one, not much of one, but still a point.

Salad cream, put simply, is perhaps the greatest culinary invention ever. For years I have ignored it but now I have to put in on everything. I have heard that due to poor sales Heinz are thinking of taking it off the market, so I call everyone out there to shout their support for Salad cream and go buy a bottle today. I ask no beg you to dump the mayo and take up the salad cream, you won't regret it

Here in England Heinz have started a new marketing campaign for your beloved Salad Cream that follows your claim that it tastes good on everything. Advertisements such as the man finding a cold, squashed piece of pizza stuck to his bed sheets. Instead of binning it he smothers it in Salad Cream and greedily devours it - excellent!

Not at all, bad bad bad adverts. I refuse to buy the stuff now, just because of the adverts, and they put the price up when they brought it back. Punch in the head for Heinz.....

But Salad Cream is so tasty. Don't listen to the ads they will warp your mind. The only thing that is true and real is the taste of Salad cream, be it Heinz or not. Please don't shun "The Cream".

Nope. Along with Pringles (a very annoying crunch in one of there adverts about 3-4 years ago) and Doritos (they used to have seriously annoying adverts - tho they redeemed themselves a bit with Homer) and several models of car (most taken from the market now) they are on the never ever ever ever buy list. I refuse to sponser bad adverts by my choice of purchase. Grrrrrrrr.

WOW! You would stop buying a product that you liked because you didn't enjoy its representation in TV commercials!? I find that very strange and it just goes to show the power of advertising!

TL - Not at all. Adverts are meant to make you buy more of a product. An advert will not make me want to buy anything, but a bad one will put me off a product for a long time. On a Sunday I used to watch TV from 5-6pm to 12, say. This is like an hour of adverts (cause the beeb on a Sunday is a bit kach) throughout the night. I demand quality for my money - and be sure it is your money they are using to make these adverts.

Niz - The Cream is good, but is now on the banned list. Complain to Heinz, and while you are there chastise them for using Prof Heinz in one of there adverts. Grrrrrrr.

I agree the Heinz ad is on the pants side. But how can I not eat salad cream, it is like oxygen to me. Anyway doesn't it mean that if the ad is not very good that not much thought has gone into the ad as the product is so damn good e.g Pringles, salad cream.

I didn't say that. I would rather have good adverts. See the Irn-Bru ones (especially the old ones) or the Tango ones (again the older ones, go-tan-go-tan-go-tan..). Even if they have decent music it can raise to mediocrity. Take the latest Fiat Brava one, it has Rubber Biscuit as the music, worth listening to each time It is the fact that they are wasting MY money, if I buy the product, as well as MY time. Salad cream rules the bad advert stakes. Hee sorry, just had to put it in. Until later....

The adverts running around here show a chewed bus ticket (still wet with saliva) and suggest eating it with Salad Cream. It makes me gag just writing about it. Pass the mayo...

I agree the Salad cream ad does suck ass big time. Just give the product a try.
Salad cream is great on:

1) cheese sandwiches
2) Chips
3) mixed in with mashed potato & peas (perhaps the best combo)
4) pizza (sadly)

Salad Cream does not go with:

1) Curry
2) anything with gravy on

So everybody. Buy Salad Cream tomorrow (I do not work for Heinz or any salad cream manafacturer)

I must admit salad cream goes very well on a cheese sandwich, but the adverts are just too dire. There is no way I can buy it, until they get a decent team in, and even then it will take a while.....

I am glad to see that apart from the dire ad you are approaching the perfection of salad cream with an open heart. I am touched.. I particulary will encourage the mashed potato, peas combination. May the salad cream be with you!!

I like the adverts actually. I identify with the pizza one completely from my student (and obviously single) days when you'd wake up after a hard night on the beers, find a bit of kebab stuck behind your ear, or draped over your alarm clock and (with a bit of sauce) have it for breakfast. No? Nobody else remember doing that? Maybe its just me!

And I know I may upset a few people here, but there is salad cream made by other people you know - Safeway have a good own brand. You still can't beat HP sauce though

You compare the HP to Salad cream (HP is not at all as flexible on the different types of food it can enhance). You shall be banished from Salad cream land for 2 parsec's..... Right you can come back in now.

I'm glad the Salad Cream ads make somebody else smile

HP is great with *EVERYTHING*, including all the things that the cream is great with - and then some! *pthpthpthpth*
