You have it SWL < it makes sense to promote gay living. >
With no kids to consider, Gay couples could give 100% to work.
An opportunity for them to become the new working class.

Two years later and they are still falling. Can we look forward to good times when they hit the bottom ?

Four years plus since the thread started and we still can't afford the public sector services that are being provided. Why is this ?

It is an ideological view that we can't

Maria Posted Dec 5, 2014
Why is this?
I´ll tell you , I know it, not for living in the UK, but for being experiencing just the same kind of politicians/ideology.
a) We can´t stop the flow of money that goes to tax havens
b) We can´t start to ask big corporations like Google, Vodafone... to start paying taxes.
c) We can´t remove the bonuses that bankers are getting
d) we can´t stop spending money, big money in weapons , that´s sacred, you know?
e) ... many more reasons.
On the other hand, what if British folks die because of the cuts in public services? That´s only proves that the so called law of the fittest is working ( that´s genuine fascism, but we called aristocracy).
If we think well about that, cuts are benefical since we are getting rid of that unproductive, useless, weak losers of society, and as a bonus, we, the winners , we are shocking the better ones, those boring middle-class, in such a way that they will swallow absolutely any shitty job under any shitty conditions.
And another thing, people are so slapped that they don´t notice that health, education, basic caring... stopped being basic human rights that cann´t be associated to profit.
ah wait, the most hilarious thing of it all, that shows our superior mind, is that if, say, a hospital, managed privately with public money fails, the government will have to rescue us!!!
We are the aristochracy, you know, that´s why.

It''s public sector services that are an ideological dream.
It's a nightmare when the cost of those services continues to rise and we can't even afford to pay the interest on the debt that is being created.
Unfortunately left to their own devices services do not pay for themselves and sadly money is the ideology that controls every aspect of a modern society.

I think we would have plenty of money (enough at least for the public sector) if we made tax avoidance and havens illegal and said all taxes must be paid to the contrary in which the transaction took place rather than where the company says it is based the public sector is not an ideological dream although some parts of it are not as efficient as they could be and the whole thing seems a little top heavy sometimes I think it is ridiculous that the country is willing to spend money on weapons and warships and forgen aid to countries that don't particularly need it when the government seems quite happy to see its own population homeless and hungry with no nurses fire-fighters or police

It's strange when some try to shift the question of "Where should cuts fall" to "Why should cuts fall". Even the Labour Party admit it's not why but where.
Have a go at answering the question here - http://www.ft.com/ig/sites/2014/deficit-calculator/?s=0

That sort of brings things into perspective swl.
Of course there are other alternatives. Take away duty free for one.
Meanwhile the debt is growing :-http://www.nationaldebtclocks.org/debtclock/unitedkingdom

Cut 10% from the cost of all purchases from private sector suppliers.
Presciption drugs alone cost the NHS in excess of £15 billion a year. Most of the drugs are bought from the private sector. Whoever buys these drugs should negotiate a rebate.
A 10% discount on all NHS purchases from private sector suppliers would raise a few £billion. Consider the public sector as a whole.
Any managers, in particular purchase managers, should 'screw' the suppliers for a 'real deal' . As a last resort they could give up their bottles of whisky and free lunches in part exchange. 😉

Sho - employed again! Posted Jan 4, 2015
so let me get this straight. When the bankers bonuses were up for grabs the government said we have to pay them because they were in the contract and the contracts can't be changed.
So now other employees (albeit highly-paid, that's beside the point) are up for big redundancy payments, because the government are paying those (oh wait - who paid for those bankers' bonuses?) the contracts can suddenly be changed?
I think not. I think the government in the UK (and elsewhere) should stop picking the easy targets and have the conversation with the corporations and other tax dodging entities they support that we wish they'd started having before the crash of 2008.

and new contracts for anyone working for anything state owned (including those banks which the state owns part of) should be written up to remove large end of contract/redundancy bonuses... If some of the 'talent' goes else where how hard is it really to replace?
