As you all know Hootoo’s Deathlist is B’s (Mu Beta) baby. Like a typical father he’s left mother holding and nurturing the baby, while he’s living it up in costa del hootoo Which is fine by me.
I’m starting nice and early this year, to save me any stress.
I’ve made a few minor adjustments to the Rules of Play, but they’re basically the same.
1) Choose 15 celebrities who you believe may die in the calendar year 2010.
2) Number 15 on your list must be aged under 50 in 2010 (born before 1960).
3) Email your list to daisylist(at)googlemail.com (Please include your hootoo username in your email ‘Subject’ box). Closing date for submissions is 31 December 2009.
4) If you discover before 1 January 2010, that you have erroneously included someone already dead, or one of your nominees dies in 2009, you may have a free substitute.
5) You will be awarded 10 points per correct prediction. If your prediction is unique, then you receive 15 points.
6) You will be awarded 5 bonus points by a death caused 'not by natural causes', in other words a suicide, murder or accident.
7) You will be awarded 5 bonus points for a celebrity who dies on the 13th of the month. 10 bonus points if it's Friday the 13th.
8) Assuming you have followed Rule 2 correctly, then you will be awarded double points for the correctly-predicted death of Number 15 on your list (all bonus points are also doubled). Only Number 15 is eligible for this bonus, no matter how many under-50s are on your list.
9) The definition of 'celebrity' is someone well-known enough to have their death reported on the websites of BBC News or any of the British Broadsheets. No report; no points.
10) Any complaints about the poor taste of this game should be addressed to Mu Beta, and then self-inserted, where the sun doesn’t shine.

Requests from Emmily
Please don’t use celebs nicknames and assume I’ll know who you mean, the chances are, I won’t.
If you’re nominating someone where there’s a junior and senior, please specify which (ie George Bush).
To save any confusion, it would be helpful if you could include the occupation next to the name of your nominees, especially if they are common names. (this won’t be included on the Home Page, but I’ll have a record of it).
Last year’s players - I’ve used 'Forward' to transfer your 2009 lists to new email address. If you simply want to use the same list, or just add replacements, let me know.
Please don’t use Attachment for your list. I have a problem opening attachments in Google mail.
I copy and paste your list, so any spelling errors, are yours, not mine. (though if I have the time, I will try to check)
All new players welcome. You can email me in confidence. I won't pass your email address to anyone else, or send you any unwanted emails.
I've emailed a copy of my list to Galaxy Babe to keep things above board.

The sentences at the top are to protect us against the Mary Whitehouses of hootoo.
Why else would anyone of a sensitive nature click on a thread/entry that says 'deathlist' what do they expect to find there (why don't we have smiley? ) other than to assume the rest of us need protecting, eh, no we don't Thank You.
(Got your list, toybox)

I think there was a rules judgment a year or two that said you had to put a bit of effort into your lists rather than just recycling all the losers from the previous year.

Oh drat. But it's like the lottery, you don't want to change your numbers in case you miss the Big One.

B, the problem a couple of years ago was that a certain player used people's lists to select their nominees, rather than finding their own. I remember it well, as 8 of this players nominees were unique before he/she copied them. Which is why we now use email address for our lists.
It's been common for players to use their previous year's surviving list, I do it myself. I don't recall any problem using previous years survivors.
