... and how can I stop it?

Really, it's awful. They really really ache for about the first 20 minutes (which is good because it takes my mind off the fact that I'm out of training and I feel like my heart is going to explode)

So, any ideas?

Where do they ache? Shoulders?

Suspect it may be a matter of holding them too stiffly?

It could be that you're not used to running.
Have you just started recently?

Your arm muscles can ache due to a build up of lactic acid caused by anaerobic respiration going on in them. This is a sign that your arm muscles are developping.

Rather than stopping, I'd suggest you persist until your arms get used to it.

are you doing a "warm up" and stretching before you set off??

Are you running on your arms?
Use your legs instead.

Not that i anymore, but when i did, my skin used to itch when i stopped!! Especially the tops of my arms and the skin on the small of my back Does anyone know why that would be?

I can't give a medical answer, as I'm only a First Aider not a , but when I was in Scouts, we were advised to gently move our arms in time to our leg motion.

My Animal Phys. excperience, limited though it is, indicates maybe you are being to rigorous or running faster than your arms can cope with, building up lactic acid and causing the equivalent of cramp.

Maybe warming up you arms, or working them out a bit more my solve the problem!

Otherwise buy a bike???

Thats a bit of a tricky one cos it could be spiders or the earwigs Or it could be that is just not good for us and we shouldnt do it.
