WRT Marvin and planet of desertion.

In the Book is on Frogstar B, in the 2nd book.

In all other versions it is Magrethia

Remember - and a point I've made way up the thread, at the start of the film it clearly says "Based on the book by Douglas Adams" - not the radio show, records, TV show or stage play.

I always felt that if the Restaurant was built on Magrethia it would have been open knowledge where the planet was, and the whole looking for it thing would therefore be silly, so think the book location is better.

paulh, vaccinated against the Omigod Variant

I had a feeling that something like that had happened. smiley - erm

There is still a chance that when (if?) they make the second movie, Marvin will, indeed, be abandoned on Frogstar B. Unless the scriptwriter whose job it is to channel Douglas Adams's smiley - ghost decides to abandon Marvin on a *third* planet. smiley - biggrin

Wasn't Marvin left on Magrathea in the book as well.. and then left on Hotblack Desiato's stuntship and then left on the frogstar and somehow gets stuck minus on leg with the soggy mattresses on squornshellous whatever... Marvin was always getting left about it seemed. In the end I remember that we find him again in the unbelievably long queue to see God's final message to his creation.

Marvin was several multiples the age of the universe as I recall. Most of that time spent waiting.

Zaphod was portrayed as too stupid...
And marvins voice was too amused but otherwise, ok.

Nope - just left on Frogstar - I've just re-read them.

The first book finishes with all the cast leaving Magrathea in HoG after Marvin had "killed" the computer on the Galactic Cops space ship - which then blew up their life support systems (in a similar way to the POV gun)
