Ye Gods that was a long time ago I always went for the 'if you have any problems' approach as I prefer to wander round a place and get to know it myself, rather than being lead around a site I suppose I should try and find more time for ACEing, well until later....

He is my ex fiance (poor fool) and the one that introduced me to h2g2.
Of course the other thing about looking back at your aceing is the tell-tale nickname first used. Spiggy is my neurotic cats name!
I would say I get about a 1 in 10 reply to aceings at the moment but I blame that purely on the game.
The average is 1 in 5 even if it is a 'thanks' but some folk are impossible to shake of and become friends.

I'm not really here Posted Feb 15, 2005
Really? I never knew that. Mmm, gossip. Even if it is a bit late...

Curious, I did a little searching.
My first account did not get aced. Very probably because it pre-dated the Ace scheme or, if it was off the ground, it wasn't fully operational yet. (Oct. 99)
My second account was Aced THREE times (I feel special now ).
The first was Androyd, I could tell it was a C & P but I replied to it anyway and was surprised to get a response back.
The second was Will Jenkins, I didn't reply to his, probably I figured I'd already replied to one and that was good enough.
The third was from Greebs, and I did reply to hers because she specifically mentioned something in my intro. It took me a few tries to get the hang of Greeb-speak, though.
In my own greetings I've tried a bit of everything - cut and paste, freestyle, long and windy, short and sweet. These days, even if there isn't an introduction I personalise greetings by picking a random selection of topics. But more often, I do like Mina has mentioned: I reply to journal entries or conversations they have started that haven't gotten replies yet. I might mention that I'm a volunteer and offer help if they need it, but I generally don't just dump a load of links on people anymore.

Blackberry Cat , if one wishes to remain an individual in the midst of the teeming multitudes, one must make oneself grotesque Posted Feb 16, 2005
mine was from Colonel creachy and looked personalised, although it may've been a standard format he used it was friendly, chatty, informal
I replied to him in a message on his page and he was helpful to me in getting to know hootoo
well done the Colonel
