I'm looking for a book. the only description I have, and it's a vague one, is as follows:
### START QUOTE ###
this girl gets murdered but she doesn't remember how.
and she had just gotten a brand new red ferrari
for her birthday
and then she's a ghost or something
and she meets this guy who usd to go to her school
patrick.. or something.
and he committed suicide on his motorcycle
and there's a bit with a ouiji board and orange powder and insulin shots and bubbles
she was pushed off a balcony
and it said something about red and white and blue or green perhaps
dots
i read this like.. 6 years ago.
and i'm going to go crazy if i don't find it.
heeeeeeelllllllpppppp
and the patrick dude looked at her naked in the shower while he was a ghost.
dun dun dunnnnn
and at the end he's like "so can I see your boobs?" or something
and it turns out that her brother's girlfriend is actually his sister and that she and her were switched at birth
and in the beginning she doesnt know that she's dead
and she's in the car with her mom
and she sees herself in the morgue
### END QUOTE ###
Since I often trust in causality, the interconnectedness of all stuff and what's that other thing, I figure I'd ask random people if they've read or heard of something like that.
And posting in on h2g2 is random enough for a thursday.
From what my friend (she's the one looking for the book) told me, the name "patrick" is just a guess and she doesn't remember anything else than what is quoted.
there's no real gain for anybody in this (except for my friend not going crazy). It is in fact utterly pointless. So utterly pointless that is completely indispensable. and a jolly good reason to procrastinate.
but one should NEVER underestimate the power of The Interconnectedness Of All Things.
some stuff I've already tried. asking google about "book reviews ghost stories" with things like "murder suicide ferrari insulin" and all sort of combinations since book reviews usually contain a blurb of some kind or a short summary. and it seems to be a ghost story.
some guesses: book was probably published between mid 70's to mid 90's maybe up to early 2000's. Author probably American. I'm thinking female, but that based on nothing solid. Probably the kind of book you pick up at a railway station bookshop then forget on a bench once you've reached your destination.
I was wondering if anybody has a clue.

My first thought was 'Lovely Bones' but it doesn't really fit the bill.

So I can't really help except failing all else, this is a good place to try:

I hadn't though of that. I was too concentrated on wasting time browsing through amazon.
It's almost reassuring to know that no matter how futile you might think a task is, there's almost certainly always a fairly large number of people out there who do it as a hobby (or even professionally).
thanks. I'll go check it out.
and thanks for the allreaders.com suggestion too Pinniped.

Are you sure that wasn't an episode (or series) of Dallas?

Ketwaroo Posted May 9, 2008
There was a ghost story in Dallas?
I always thought it was kind of a soap opera about Texans. or something.

Sorry I can't help but I have to comment on your statement:
"...one should NEVER underestimate the power of The Interconnectedness Of All Things."
Oops. Now I've lost my train of thought.
Musta been the Cosmic Express.
