I've recently become a representative for Avon and it's surprising how many people still think their stuff is just for grannies despite the recent effort put in to revamp their image. So I was wondering, when did you last see a brochure or even a TV ad? what were your opinions?

It definately seems to have become more trendy. I've heard women of all ages saying their stuff is great.

I lurve my Avon stuff - can't recall seeing an ad for years though. Their sake & rice range is great as are their chocolate perfumed hand and foot creams smiley - drool!

Only problem is that I have to reduce my order down, other wise I'd spend an absolute fortune.

There have been some ads on tv recently - which surprised me as I don't remember ever seeing any before.

Apparently, they make a product which is fab for repelling midgies.

I've seen quite a few ads on tv recently too. can't remember seeing any before. Looks like you can order off their ewebsite too so it saves trying to find a rep.

We regularly pass the brochure round at work (oh, and order stuff too smiley - smiley)

The great anti-midge stuff is Skin-so-soft, Teuchter, which contains citronella. Much beloved by rufty tufty bikers camping in Scotland smiley - cheers

They do super value and lovely smelling shower gel and soaps.

And I'm a big fan of the duo upper eye gel and under eye cream.

I do have a problem buying make up that I can't try on though, so I tend to avoid that.

I receive the booklets, but rarely order from them.

VC certainly makes purchases from Avon.. and I've been lucky to receive some lovely perfumes from her.

All you ever wanted to know, Serephina: A7081490

I also love Avon: shower gel delivered to your door and Skin-so-soft (bath oil, you dilute it into a spray bottle then spray your skin to keep insects away was a BIG seller for me) and the Factor 25 sun lotion (and After Sun) and the unperfumed PH-neutral liquid cleanser pump for first-bit-you-wash in the shower smiley - ok
I always double up on the shampoo & conditioner when it's on offer too. Didn't think the "hair thickener" shampoo would work but it did with me.

I prefer the peppermint foot lotion, the smiley - choc smell of the other makes me want to lick itsmiley - biggrin and the footworks spray is excellent for squirting teenage trainers and feetsmiley - ill

I also spend a small fortune on Avon and would spend a lot more if I could afford it!smiley - ok

I always have a supply of Avon bubble bath. It comes in a big bottle and quite often i get two for the price of one. It's the only one i've found that does'nt dry my skin. I never wear their makeup, i have tried it but not impressed. As for their perfume smiley - yuk

Regarding TV ads, the most recent one features Reese Witherspoon using their lipstick that you can open and apply with one hand. Don't know why or when you'd need to, but I suppose some people want that kind of thing.smiley - erm

"I've recently become a representative for Avon"

Do you think you can do something about the terrible state of the cycle paths outside Bristol? They've been deteriorating for years and nobody seems to want to do anything about it. I'm glad there's a new representative for the area, the old one was rubbish...

I'm not really here

I have seen ads on tv lately, I don't think they have had ads before - at least not a huge amount of them, or for long.

When I was a teenager I used one of their perfumes, can't remember the name now, but I layered it all up with shower gel, talc, cream etc. If I get the smell of it now it really takes me back! Not exactly a granny, but if my mum hadn't used the stuff, maybe I wouldn't have either. Mind you, she wasn't a granny either!

I was a rep for a while, but got sick of the people on my route telling me that they already had a rep, because some cow had taken on the road.

It's a good job for people claiming benefit, because it's not counted as income - well, unless things have changed. They call it a 'discount' on the bill, not 'commision'.

I did have a brochure come through the door once last year, but as there are a lot of *real* grannies in my street we don't often get this sort of thing regularly as it's not worth the rep's while.

On the subject of grannies using Avon, mum-in-law was a regular buyer and she was a granny. Don't know what she bought, probably stuff for the bath and/or shower, and there was a perfume she liked. Haven't seen the rep since mum-in-law died, so I don't know if we still have one in the area.
