Can't find a link, sadly, but today's Metro front-page story is about "Bribes to take nuclear waste". Now, I'm not going to bang on about the pros and cons of various forms of nuclear waste disposal, but one sentence caught my eye: "...Britain's estimated 470,000 cubic metres of spent nuclear material - enough to fill five Royal Albert Halls..."
Yes! we have a new measure - just as the measure of rain forest destroyed per annum is measured in areas the size of Wales, nuclear waste is measured in Albert Halls!

You may have been following the story of the 2 miners trapped for over a week in Tasmania (a kilometre underground)

They are communicating with them now, feeding them etc and working to get them out.
The best story I have heard is that apparently they asked the guys what they wanted sent down to them - one of them replied ....
"I'd love a meat pie and can you send down a newspaper - I want to look for another job."
I love the Aussie sense of humour ....
