Surely post 696 is a load of testicles? I went to a BBC audience thingy last month, and will do so again fairly soon...they go on most nights. I've not noticed anyone being stopped or prevented from attending such shows.

I suggest you READ the article. The BBC and the local council have realised, IN THE PAST WEEK, that the Beeb DO need a licence to play live music in front of a public audience hence they have to use Beeb employees until the farce is sorted out.
Martha Kearney was interviewed on Fridays edition of Today explaining her experience of being part of the Top Of The Pops 'crowd' on Thursday night.
Look on the tickets pages of the Beb website and you will see they have said various shows have had to stop having audiences and people will be contacted. I 'snaggingfraggingblagging- catchthepigeoninin' hope they get it sorted before 23rd May as I am going to see Jammin being recorded - my first experience of a radio show being recorded and doubly excellent as Fish(or Feeesh as he is normally known) is a guest on it.

There's a story on BBC news site today about illegal immigration in the US. It caught my eye because the road sign gave me a good chuckle:

cool - A laser based turntable! No needle so no wear and tear.
Sounds pretty cool, but at 15,000 USD that's a pretty steep price!

The mysterious "London stone" is going to be rescued from a building due to be demolished. Does it mean that London is going to be saved from an ancient legend?

Nottingham is the worst city in the UK for crime.
The reaction of the leader of the City Council? Bury his head in the sand, deny it, and try to rubbish the report. Yeah. That'll help.

A copy of the Hutton report signed by Cherie Blair is auctioned at a Labour party fund-raising event.
The Hutton Report, you may remember, is the whitewash, sorry “inquiry”, into the suicide of David Kelly, the government scientist hounded by her husband, Tony Blair, for leaking the truth about the non-existence of WMD in Iraq.
You’re a sick, sick woman, Mrs. Blair.

Did she submit it to the auction then? Or did she just stick an autograph on something that turned out to be a copy of the report?

Yes. She signed it as an item to be auctioned to raise funds for the Labour party.
Her husband did the same thing a while back. Pair of sickos.

Ah, it doesn't say that in the article. Hmmm. Very poor taste indeed if that is the case.

Naked sunbather found not guilty of indecent exposure.
>> Father-of-three Mr Jones told magistrates: "I was renovating the back of my home with a local builder when Ms Burgess appeared in her garden.
"She walked back and fore completely naked - I went to get my video camera to record the incident.
"I have been extremely shaken by this. It has been very upsetting and worrying. I don't want to bring up my children in such an environment." <<
I shake my head in disbelief.
