I have just finished reading 'The Da Vinci Code'. Very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a Mystery.

I enjoyed "The Da Vinci Code" too. I rarely read one book at a time, so right now I'm in the middle of "Story of O"--Pauline Reage, "Great Short Works of Henry David Thoreau" and "Dead Souls"--Nikolai Gogol.

A boy with Asperger's Syndrome who's trying to investigate the murder of his neighbour's dog. The boy is the narrator of the story, it's very clever

I thought it might be . Sort of caught half of an interview with the author on the radio, but didn't catch the title or his name. He was saying something about it being a book primarily for kids but that adults would enjoy it too. I was impressed that he chose to write from the point of view of some one with aspergers, but also because he said that even though it was for kids, he had made the decision to include every day naughty words!
Think this will be my next read. Thanks a lot

Apparently, like about 75% of researchers here, I'm reading Bill Brysons's "Short history of almost everything" at the moment. It answers more questions than you ever thought to ask if you haven't studied geology, physics, maths or chemistry, but only dabbled in them at school.

Picked up the"Pengarron"series by Gloria Cook (Pengarron Land, Pengarron Pride and Pengarron Children) for $5 each at the local book store. They are light romances set in Cornwall in the mid 1700's. I like historic Romance especially those that hi-lite the living conditions of the times portrayed. I particularly like the authors Cynthia Harrod-Eagles and E V Thompson.

Just finished reading "Salmon of Doubt" by Douglas Adams.
The Dirk Gently story was great but it was a really emotional experience reading a book that you know will never be finished, especially when you've been waiting for years for it to be written (i.e. the next DNA book - not just the next Dirk Gently book). Some touching comments from Stephen Fry and another author who wrote about evolution (sorry, forgot his name).
I've never been so sad about someone dying who I'd never met. I can almost understand all the polava about Diana now. Almost.

"Life: A User's Manual" by Georges Perec, translated from the French by David Bellos. It is a novel, yes.
"Pixel Juice" by Jeff Noon - surrealistic modern science-fiction ultra-short story collection.
"Ella Minnow Pea" by Mark Dunn - a progressively lipogrammatic epistolary fable.

I recently finished 'Al Qaeda And What it Means to be Modern' -- John Gray. (More light reading.)
