Fahrenheit 9-11 the film, a question

Reddyfreddy, registration can be for a fixed period or in perpituity (which I believe means for as a long as the copyright on the movie exists) and similar doesn't really count. For example, 'Fahrenheit 451' is currently registered to Castle Rock as they're working on a new version of the movie for next year, but as far as I know neither they nor the MPPDA which oversees movie title registration have taken issue with Moore.

I had to chuckle when Bradbury's vituperative rant about Moore's appropriation and modification of 'his' title in last week's Private Eye.

Bradbury was billed in the article as "author of 'A Tale of Another Two Cities' and 'Beyond 1984'."

He also wrote the book and movie "Something Wicked This Way Comes", which I'm almost sure I've heard *somewhere* before... by the pricking of my thumbs...

Blatherskite the Mugwump - Bandwidth Bandit

>>if you meant it as a joke, was a very poor one, as "savagely raped" is not a phrase often taken lightly.
However, you can own your own words, when you've strung them together.<<
Blatherskite, whether you take the phrase lightly or not is of no interest to me, as it's not a phrase I used. As you would have it you own the words, so I look forward to seeing you pompously demand an apology of yourself for this self-inflicted slight."

AHEM! smiley - steam Where do you think I got this?:

"Blatherskite, it's no more stealing than your shameless rape of Native American culture by attributing the title Mugwump to yourself, or your use of the word blatherskite without ever giving due credit to Francis Semple."

I can't even begin to have a reasonable conversation with you if you're going to conveniently forget your own posts. It's clear to me that you have the sensitivity of the common cold and the tact of a falling load of bricks. Go self-inflict yourself.

Ah, that would be a quote from one of my posts.

If you study the quote carefully you'll notice that the phrase "savagely raped" appears nowhere in it. If the words I actually used upset you then we can talk about that, but otherwise I fail to see why I should defend a phrase you've coined and subsequently attributed to me. I suspect that if I misquoted you and then refused to admit it, you'd reach an even higher plane of self-righteous indignation than the one you're currently on.

Ooooo, very good points Hoo! I hadn't thought of Bradbury's own titles! Notice Bradbury picked authors who were deceased and couldn't complain.

I just found out that Fahrenheit 9-11 opened here yesterday!!! So I'm going to the first showing today at 5.30.

Also came across a fab dvd offer yesterday - Bowling for Columbine plus September 11 (the one made by the eleven different directors, which I haven't seen yet) for just 18 euros. So of course I snapped it up. smiley - ok

I look forward to your reporting back az smiley - ok

The main release date here is Thurs (although there seem to be screenings on Sunday for some reason). The movie chain has a F 911 popup as their homepage is loading which surprised me.

hi kea,

Well, it turns out it's pushing 50º here so going out at 5pm would be, well, quite nuts really. So I will either go later on tonight or perhaps on Monday night. Because tomorrow I have been invited out to see a Cuban band playing in the Alcázar (Royal Palace) gardens, if my friends can get tickets.

Mmmm, just another day in paradise. smiley - winkeye

It sounds lovely... Mmmm
No, don't mind me, I know it wouldn't really be. I'd just settle for 20 degrees right now. smiley - brr

But you've been in unnatural 50º heat, kea?

No, it's not exactly 'lovely' Della, but I think I know what you mean - I'll take the heat over being smiley - brr any day. I find up to 40º is quite comfortable, after that it's just hard to actually *do* anything. But I'm not complaining! smiley - cool

I was thinking of saunas az. Can't remember how hot they get though.

The high 20s are best for me. By the high 30s it's doing me in.

I don't mind the weather being cold as long as I am not chilled in my body. I do prefer warm though smiley - smiley

clzoomer- a bit woobly

Yes, but is it a DRY heat?? smiley - winkeye

I'm fond of the desert because I don't sweat like a hog on a spit when it's that dry. Luckily when it's humid and hot I have a day or two and then my body catches up. Those two days I perfer to be in the company of myself...
Could it be all the desserts that make me like all the deserts? Or could it be all the sandwiches there? smiley - laugh (I hope someone got that...)

Ah yes, the topic....smiley - erm...what is it again?
