Since the Easter binge, I'm thinking of detoxing for a week. I've been feeling glurgy for a while, and want to feel cleansed! This idea has also been brought on by me being skint
I've got plenty of multi-vitamins so won't miss out on those. Does anybody know of any detox plans? Have you detoxed before? Are there any real benefits?

You could always try a fruit fast.
Lots of whatever fruit you fancy on the first day, then choose just one fruit for the second day (apples are good and cleansing) and munch away.
The third day - fruits and veggies only.
Whilst doing the fast drink loads of water and herbal teas (if you like them!), and cut out caffeine, sugar and dairy products.
That should make you feel much cleaner, although you may feel a bit groggy/headachy whilst you're on the fast due to toxins being released, so make sure you drink more water or herbal teas to help flush them out.
Peppermint/chamomile tea is good for headaches.

Or you could just got three days without food? Would that work? I seem to often go 24 hours without food, normally when I just don't fancy midday lunch on day, as I don't have breckfast, I'll have been 24 hours by dinner time at 9 or 10 PM

Drinking a lot is highly recommended - but use mineral watr, not plain tap. Alcohol is desiccant (you pee more than you swallow during a binge), and with the water you lose a lot of minerals. Lack of magnesium is high on the problems list (not only after bingeing - after heavy sweating as well), so magnesium tablets are a good idea to avoid cramps.

That's so funny! I just started a detox today!!!!
Yay, we can keep each other company and exchange tips and notes.
Today for breakfast I had tomato juice. And a tomato (I've only just got back from a week away so there was b*gger all in the fridge!) And a handful of grapes.
Oh, I started the day with a slice of lemon in hot water, and went for a jog
For lunch I had pea soup, a big bowl of salad leaves, (squeeze of lemon and black pepper - no dressing) handful of pickled onions and a boiled egg, and a slice of watermelon.
Currently nibbling on a rice cake with a cup of green tea.

Cool! How are you feeling?
I'm thinking about starting tomorrow, I'll just stick to fruit and veg, and me vitamins!
Weird thing is though, for the last few days, my diet has consisted of pretty much nothing but chocolate... but all my spots are disappearing.. I don't get it!

Finished off yesterday with a piece of grilled wild salmon , 1 small boiled potato, cauliflower, and a few slices of tomato and cucumber.
Feeling OK so far - bit tired last night, but that was probably the absence of caffeine.
I'm cutting out completely: alcohol + cigs, tea, coffee
I'm avoiding as much as possible: sugar, processed foods.
Cutting down on wheat and dairy, and no carbs after 6 pm.
Managed to get out for another pre-breakfast jog this morning , and can really feel it in my legs.
Breakfast today was a huge fruit platter - melon, strawberries, raspberries, kiwi.

You'l probably be able to answer this, as you are doing detox diet things...
Right, now I gather the function/point of going on 'detox' for a week or so, is to stop taking in certain things into your body, caffine, alcohol, nicoteen etc. At the same time, you are also reducing the amount you eat?
Right, now, the aim of this is to remove 'toxins' from your body? Or, as the name suggests to 'detoxify' your body?
So, when you've finished the 'detox', you'l go back to eating all the things that put these (as you view them) undesirable things into your body? Why? ( s for cover )

Cos it makes you feel better (temp) and doesn't do any damage.
I used to do detox but these days having a few days without getting plastered is a detox, not chain-smoking is too, and I've always eaten an interesting and varied diet. I also exercise reasonably frequently.

Not too sure about the 'doesn't do harm' bit; I remember reading a article in some peer reviewed biological journal or other (when I was a studious masters student some moons ago), about the harm of 'ping pong' dieting; whe you loose the weight on a strict diet, the breakdown of the bodies stored body fat from teh adipocites, causes teh releases of various 'toxins', which were basically 'locked' up in the fat reserves, and these enter blood, which is a worse place for them to be than locked nicely away, and then, when you go on the 'non diet' bit, they get 'locked away' again, in the fat storage, to be released again on the next 'diet'... Of course, being overweight like myself, drinking and smoking too much and not exercising and drinking an average ten cups of strong black coffee a day isn't recomended for health and well being either, guess that makes me a bit, well a lot* of a hypercrit

Oh 2legs
You're right - yo-yo dieting is not good for your system, and faddy diets should be avoided.
I detox maybe twice a year, usually after a prolonged session of rich foods and large quantities of alcohol. I find it helps to restore the balance a bit, and it does give me more energy.
I don't primarily do it to lose weight (although that is usually a side effect).

..and it's very good for your bank balance too!
For lunch I had vegetable soup (I know it's made in the canteen, rather than out of a tin), and a mini salad plate of roast chicken and a handful of green beans.
1.50
That's euros, folks!
Then went for a massage - I was so tired afterwards I really needed something to perk me up, so I had a guarana drink thingy.
bad points - processed, contains sugar, guarana is a caffeine substitute
good points - I resisted buying a bar of chocolate to go along with it...

yes, 'yo-yo' diets was the phrase I didn't quite find in my memory banks I' tend to move to healither food this time of year, more salad matterial and the like, I've cut the amount of food I eat roughly in half; by doing my grocery shop for approximately the same price, but only every two weeks rather than weekly and no, I've not done this by buying cheaper rubbishy food I could probably do with a good detox; would a week consuming nothing but real ale count as detox?

Why not go on a 7 day hunger strike and only drink water. That should get just about anything out of your system. You would be quite tired by the end of it, but at least you would be clean.

I dont know how hard it would be.... I think I might try a 5 day one next week just to see how difficult it is. I dont really want to lose weight, but it wont be a problem if I do.

I might* give it a go, though I might have to sneak in a little granary toast into it; I had lunch today before 1 PM, so I'll start counting from then... Actually, I wasn't thinking of eating ought tonight, as I still feel full now, though I might* have to consume a little* beer and wine over the next few days
