I mean...we must be the only country ever to have got into a war by accident! What does that say about us?

For once, I agree with you, Della. <<'nuff said.>> as you so eloquently put it.

Just a guess, but I'll wager that it wasn't our resident troll withdrawing her vicious epithet.

>>The funniest part of it, is that y'all are so willing to believe all these "quotes" genuinely come from normal Christians!<<
Vicky, how do you to decide who is a 'normal' Christian and who isn't? Which standards do you use and from where do you derive that authority?
For example, you called some of them 'crazy right-wingers' (I'm paraphasing here, I can't remember your exact word) - is there something inherently un-Christian about conservatism? If it isn't conservatism per se, what is it?
I hope this doesn't come across as an attack, because that isn't how it's meant - it's genuine question that I'd appreciate an answer to.

That's a good question, HI. That means you won't get an answer. Or at least not a useful one.
Until you hear a better answer, let me suggest that the standards are pretty much the same as the ones used to determine which commandments one can safely disregard and which are the ones that actually matter. And the authority is auto-imposed.

I doubt Vicky's online yet, so I think we can give her the benefit of the doubt on that one.
It was the usual stuff, asking how she can magically tell that people quoted on FSTDT are not real Christians (even though they say they are) and Bob Dylan is (even though he says he's not).
Plus some highlights of the most ludicrous and offensive things she's said lately.

Actually, that might be it...
In response to 'you can't judge people's morals just because they're ignorant', I posted 2 direct quotations from the FSTDT website that I considered to be deeply immoral (Quote 14 in the Top 100, from Gods soldier and 21 from Uberbeliever if you want to look them up).
If that's what it was, I doubt it's coming back, so:
Vicky,
You said you think that all the quotes on FSTDT are from atheist trolls. Do you also think the mail Dawkins gets is from atheist trolls? (It's on his web-site; link in the next post.)
Do you think it was reasonable of you to compare Dawkins with Hitler or a researcher here with Mengele? Care to apologise for that once you've apologised to me?
Given that your stated opinions are very reminiscent of much on FSTDT, should we conclude that you are an atheist troll, as you accuse them of being?
When you said "[I like] Brits. Italians, Germans, Maori, the Dutch - hey, just about everyone! Well, except for..." you seem to have missed an awful lot of people. You've said offensive things about Germans, Americans, gays, overweight people, people who recommend books you don't like and people who sit next to you on the bus.
I'm pleased to see you like Brits though. That would include me, Richard Dawkins and almost everyone I know. Do you frequently compare people you like to Hitler? Or could it be that the whole idea of making sweeping statements - whether positive or negative - about huge groups of people is a sign of sloppy thinking?
And finally, of course:
'Man, ignorance is evidence of Bad Moral Values!???? That's going on my mad quotes from atheists site, when I get time to set it up...'
You'd have to find an atheist who actually said it first, though.

And while we're on the subject of laughing at the superstitious, did you know the world is going to end in 2007?

(You'll need to look at the cached version; the website has now been taken down for obvious reasons.)
Not to worry if you missed it though - it's happening again this year

Hoo boy, if you thought theists came across badly on FSTDT, try following the link through to the consipracy sister-site. It's not even supposed to be about religion and half of the top 10 refer to God. (He lives on Mars, apparently.)

Hmm. I've always subscribed to the idea that we should not necessarily trust anything that comes out of St Robert of Zimmerman's mouth and that his apparent conversion to Christianity was 'satirical' But if he's now saying tat he *isn't* a Christian...then maybe he is.
Let's see.

Quote 14 from FSTDT Top 100:
If u have sex before marriage then in Gods eyes u are married to that person if a man rapes a woman in Gods eyes they are married it sucks for the girl but what can we do lol

You do have to wonder about some people, don't you? What he says does actually have some support from the Mosaic Law.
