TRiG (Ireland) A dog, so bade in office

Post 21 from FSTDT Top 100.

A woman wants to abort a rape child? She should have thought of that before she walked down that dark alley without a male prescence, not to mention she should have thought before putting on revealing attire.

[Yes. It should (be legal). Otherwise you're screwing over the women who don't deserve their fate.]

Are you calling them victims now? Should've stayed in the house where it's safe.

I suppose there may possibly be some logic in there somewhere.

One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible:

Well, I've got an email saying why my post was removed. Apparently, 'This decision has been made because it contains material on which the copyright appears to be owned by someone else.'

I'm flummoxed. The 2 quotes from FSTDT I used have been reposted by others since (and I wouldn't have thought they were copyright anyway, and even if they were they were short quotes with attribution).

Nothing else in my post was quoted from anywhere outside this thread.

Bizarre.

Conservatism

Post 6745

DA ; Simply Vicky: Don't get pithy with me!

<>

Conservatism is one thing (though it's not my thing) and "crazy right-wingers" are quite another "pair of sleeves" as they say in Italyland. Some websites such as Free Republic and Stormfront are red flags - if you have a look at either of them, you'll see what I mean!

What I meant, and I see I didn't express it very well, is that the main emphasis of these sites/people is political, anti-immigration, anti-Clinton, pro-death penalty etc... rather than being specifically Christian. These are exactly the sort of people who claim loud and long, that their main focus is Christian, because they believe that they'll derive credibility and political benefit thereby.

Some people claim to find my views scary. This is because they attribute to me views I actually don't hold (the God hates fags thing, for instance, which is *not* something I believe - I don't believe God hates anyone or ever has!) But if you want to see genuinely scary, have a look at Free Republic, or worse scary, Stormfront. Horrible!

Reasonable no, in keeping with the things people here say to me, yes. For what must I apologise to you? My existence? No, I really want to know what I ever did to you - whatever it was, it must have been pretty dreadful, you've been *so* angry for a long time, but I genuinely don't have the first idea why.

<>

Please elaborate. You've admitted that you know I am not a creationist...

I've never said anything against Germans, Americans are well, Americans. People who recommend books I don't like - what *are* you talking about? As for people who sit next to me on the bus, you're deliberately distorting what I said (and not for the first, or obviously the last) time. I spoke about a specific fat man, who sat opposite me, with his bulk and his bags taking up three seats. You'd be annoyed as well, if you'd ever taken a bus, and seen that people do things like that all the time! As I recall, the whole story was a specific anecdote about when I specifically decided against hassling the fat guy, although he was hassling me. Trust you to make it into a story about how I hate everyone on the damn bus!

I take your point, Vicky, that the views represented on FSTDT aren't necessarily representative of all Christians. And I don't think anyone's suggested that they are.

But I din't agree with your suggestion that they can be wholly characterised as anti-immigration, anti-Clinton, etc. Yes, there's some correlation...but I think we have to accept that these people are sincere, believing Christians - of a sort. Dare I suggest tyhat Christianity has not provided them with reliable moral guidance?

Once again, it's the homophobia issue that raises its ugly head. I accept that you yourself are sincere in believing that your god doesn't hate fags. I wonder, though, what would be your take on Christians who say that sincerely believe that sexuality is a non-issue? Yet more evidence of the fallibility of Christian teaching in delivering unambiguous guidance?

Hi Ed,

'I wonder, though, what would be your take on Christians who say that sincerely believe that sexuality is a non-issue?'

Some Christians go further and say that the loving relationship they have is a gift from 'the God of love' - even though it's a same-sex relationship.

Hi Vicky,

'Free Republic and Stormfront are red flags - if you have a look at either of them, you'll see what I mean!'

I've looked at Free Republic (www.freepepublic.com). I don't see what you mean. Seems to be filled with articles on the presidential race and why spending $400 on a handbag is bad. Stormfront looks quite bad though - white supremacists.

Have I understood you right that you don't think that these sites are run by Christians, or are you just saying you don't think they are represenative of Christians in general? (I would certainly agree that Stormfront is not representative of Christians - not so sure about Free Republic.)

'I can't read the mail he gets. He allows only members to read such things, and I am not going to sign up.'

Thanks for answering this one for me Ed.

'For what must I apologise to you? My existence? No, I really want to know what I ever did to you - whatever it was, it must have been pretty dreadful, you've been *so* angry for a long time, but I genuinely don't have the first idea why.'

What a short memory you have when it suits you. You claimed that I admitted to inventing the Ritual Decalogue for the express purpose of irritating 'faith-heads' (your word).

'<>
Please elaborate. You've admitted that you know I am not a creationist...'

Very well, your claim that 'homosexuality is *not* natural' for example. Your repeated self-contradictions (such as whether all commandments are important or only some). These are the kind of things we see on FSTDT, are they not?

'I've never said anything against Germans'

Thanks for answering this one for me, Effers.

'Read the thread... sigh...
You'd have to find an atheist who actually said it first, though.'

I have read the thread. I didn't see anyone claim that ignorance indicates bad moral values.

I like the way the church treats sex as immoral, dirty, disgusting, sinful and therefore must be restricted to the one you love.
