You got that slightly wrong AbPW, as 'light' and 'hard' are neither synonyms nor oppositres of each other. . The correct jole is 'What's the difference between the lights and the horn?'.
Answer: Well, you can get to sleep with the lights on!

Hmm, it's slightly difficult to believe this as gelatin is merely a carrier/support for the silver salts that react to the light . However, I s'pose it's just possible if different gelatins have different penetrability by light waves of different wavelengths/frequencies .

It's more complicated than that, BigAl. One of the people I used to know at Kodak (now sadly deceased) told me that making photographic film was much like cooking.
It's definitely true, though. I have it on the authority of Edwin Mees, one of the great names of photography (also sadly deceased). Nobody on the planet knew more about the subject than he did.

more on the subject of the fab chappies:
In A Hard Day's Night Norman Rossington is sometimes erroneously assumed to be playing Brian Epstein when he is in fact playing a character based on Neil Aspinall, the Beatles Road manager. John Junkin's character, Shake, is based on Mal Evans.
Mal Evans has a cameo in the film Help where he appears from time to time as the lost channel swimmer, a running gag in the movie. He is also one of the Bus passengers in Magical Mystery Tour.
Victor Spinetti appears in all three films, the only non Beatle to do so.

Mr. X ---> "Be excellent to each other. And party on, dudes!" Posted Dec 7, 2008
I have just added this to my collection of quotes:
"Before quoting the Bible to atheists, always ask yourself whether the same statement would be just as effective in your mind if you were quoting Captain Kirk.
If the answer is "yes," then you may be making a good point that people will listen to. If the answer is "no," then you are probably trying to rely on the Bible as something that people will regard as credible in its own right... and atheists, because we are blind to the merits of the Bible, will miss the point."
