I don't know if this has already been said or not, but Benjamin Franklin invented bifocals because he hated having two pairs of glasses.

Benjamin Franklin had a purse made of asbestos. I don't know if this was to stop his money burning a hole in his pocket smiley - erm

Cyanide is horribly poisonous; chromium hexacyanate (a chromium atom with six cyanides attached to it) is used as an anti-packing agent in table salt.

Speaking of Frankenstein (I've probably already said this too), Igor doesn't appear in the book or in any movie until "The Son of Frankenstein", and then /not/ as a hunchbacked assistant.

The book of Around The World In Eighty Days has no mention of travel by Hot Air Balloon, that bit was invented for the 1956 film and reused in the 2004 remake.

Goldfish were originally green before they were bred for different colors by the Chinese. Gold just happened to be the most popular hue.

smiley - erm I'm not sure that CHROMIUM hexacyanoferrate is used. Magnesium carbonate is what's usually used as an anti-caking flow agent in table salt but, in recent years
SODIUM hexacyanoferrate has also been used in table salt.

(However, the same principle applied; the cyanide ion which is normally condsidered to be highly poisonous is being used in foodstuffs.

Salt for de-icing roads in the UK typically contains sodium hexacyanoferrate for the same purpose.

As many here know, Thomas Crapper(1837-1910) did NOT invent the toilet (Sir John Harrington did in 1596). He was a plumber and sold them, but didn't invent them.

The four letter word that everyone associates with his name was first recorded in English in 1846 while Thomas was still a young boy.
