Incidentally, despite what's been said here, it's been reported on TV news that the surviving burglar has not dropped the case, but has instead "upped" his demands for compensation from £15,000 to £100,000.
I still don't think he'll get the money, but still.

I think it's worth stating that, in this case, the issue of burglary is distinct from the issue of murder:- condemning the latter is not automatically condoning the former.

I've only just read this thread and it doesnt look like anyone has mentioned that Martin wasnt defending himself. Unless hiding and lying in wait to shoot someone in the back counts as self defence.
