I was rooting through a 99p bin at the time (remember them?) and came across it...this was several years after it had become their second (non)hit single...and I knew about my brother's connection...and his birthday was coming up...a confluence of circumstances which resulted in my parting with 99 of my hard-earned (yeah, right! ) pence to acquire said artifact!

Ah, the 99p bin... they've become obsolete since ebay came along.

I seem to remember buying a Celine Dion 'At the movies' EP a while back.

Lots of tragically awful ballads from soundtracks.

I can proudly admit to having only bought one truly pathetic single- "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred. Don't be *too* hard on me, I was going through a vain phase.

I'm sure I have more than one questionable track in my mp3 collection, though.

As for the "99p" bin (we had a slightly different variation here in the States), I used to find some really good stuff in those from time to time. eBay has rendered them mostly obsolete, but I still find some goodies at second-hand shops and garage sales. Last winter I got 50 cassettes for US $10.50, only two of which were of dubious aesthetic quality.

Oooh, tough question! I have many many dubious singles in my possession (in fact, I catalogued them in a separate journal entry as they would have completely strangled this thread with dross...)

I don't know how it happened but somehow I missed out on the Bratisla Boys - in my mind though they're a slightly more photogenic Opus (of 'Live is Life' fame, rather than 'It's A Fine Day').

Much as I was a fan, I never seemed to get round to buying Captain Beaky.

oh yes, i think i once bought the smurfs christmas single... i listened to it a few years later thinking it was once of my friend's rockbands and nearly died of shame when i realized what i was listening to...

but i think that the most horrendous single that can be bought would be one of 1970's underground acoustic rock that was digitally remasterised from a mummified cassette tape that was bouncy when it was sold in a general store in the 60's or, alternatively, the new beatles release, "naked" or something.
