What was the first single you bought?

I noticed in another thread that someonea mentioned that the first single they bought was by Peter NAdre, so I thought I'd see what everyone else's were, if you can remember.

Mine was "Baby Come Back" by Pato Banton featuring Robin and Ali Campbell from UB40.

Fished Out

The first single bought for me (by my brother, but at my request) was the Elton John Princess Diana thing. The first single I brought with my actual own money was Westlife. I have since thrown it away and can't remember the title of the song.

I am suitable ashamed of having ever contributed to Westlife, I just thank my younger self that I never bought a Westlife album. It was one of their Xmas #1s, but I think they had like 4...

I managed to bypass the buying singles phase because I always spent my Saturday job money on Biba nail varnish and half pints of lager in the Students' Union in Aberdeen! But my first album, on vinyl, was Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison.

kasese<a rather confused individual, desperately seeking Harmony>

My God! You people are SOOOO young! I think my first single acquisition was "Downtown" by Petula Clark or was it "I want to Hold Your Hand?" I still have the 45s by the way. I used to travel into downtown Toronto each week with my $.50 allowance in hand and by the latest single (Canadian dollars) Then I graduated to a bigger allowance which enabled me to buy a vinyl album every two weeks for $2.50 I cringe when I pay $25.00 for a CD! and smile when I discover an old Vinyl for the same price. smiley - smiley
