One of the present public discussions here in Canada are that the citizens of the USA hold the citizens of Canada in low regard because of their lack of support in the current conflict. I have even heard that we are anti-American rather than pro-UN.

I have not heard that but I am not pro war.
The Americans that are strongly pro war feel that way about other Americans. I am not of a popular opinion here ,especially now that *it* has started. Many just assume you are for *IT*

The whole UN thing is now heating up into a very defensive US demeanor from the pro *IT* people. I really hope neither persists. A lot of healing will have to occur as it is

I don't believe that recent events have changed how some Americans regard Canadians. My belief is, if they dislike them now, they did before too, and they are the same minority of people that just plain dislike people from other places in general.

Dang, I mean, if it wasn't for Canada we wouldn't ahve hockey, or Canadian beer, or Pamela Anderson. Sheesh, what is there NOT to love about Canada?

That is all good to hear. I have not once changed my feeling for Americans (although I like to say US citizens because I am (North) American too). I may have some trouble with your government but then I have trouble with mine too.

That is bothering me.

The average person does not think about Canadians much outside of hockey and travel. Folks often get caught up in the ferver of others in these strange blaming senarios. Just to be in their *accepted circle* of friends,not neccesarily feeling strongly.

A few people in the US have *claimed* their opinion was the last straw in getting them fired. To some bosses, disapproval of IT was enough to boot them out the door. Especially in small close working groups/company. It can be uncomfy and people get vocal about the dissaproval/approval of *IT*. I hope it is rare, if existing at all in private companies.

That guy is a fool. Never mix politics with money. Oh well, I'll bet he got maybe 1 order a year from outside the U.S. anyway.

I've never had any cause to dislike Canadians, and can't think of any reason why I should now, either. Living in Chicago, I can easily get up to Ontario, and often do, and I have yet to meet a Canuck I didn't like.

The sort of people who are using recent events as a reason to dislike citizens of other nations are, in my opinion, somewhat ignorant anyway. I just hope that diplomatic relations won't be strained when all is said and done.

I will leave you ladies and gentlemen now to finally go home from work. I am heartened by your responses and only a little worried about what I will see here tomorrow.

Why do they have all those laws about what you can or cannot do with a Moose?

This Yank loves at least one Canuck (my husband!) I agree with the above poster that most people who dislike a country because of their position on the current events, probably disliked them before. I think (from my relatively small sample size of all the people I've met in the US and Canada) that there are more Canadians (proportionally) who dislike Americans than Americans who dislike Canadians (though the Americans who don't realize that Alberta is NOT an state can't really be included in that statistic.)

I do not hold any ill will for Canada or Canadians. Likewise for the other countries and nationalities mentioned on that ebay page. Personally, I won't bid on anything from someone who conducts business in such a manner.

A couple of people came into our place of business the other day exclaiming that we shouldn't sell French products. Firstly it's a product that we have always sold. Secondly, it probably didn't occur to them that not only is my surname French, but so is theirs. French names in Louisiana are so rare .

I hadn't noticed the eBay link before, for some odd reason. All I can say is I'm embarrassed by this person/people's attitude, and I hope that folks in the rest of the world don't lump me in with idiots such as these.

Some restaurants in my area are refusing service to patrons who order 'French' toast or Canadian bacon... yadda, yadda. As far as I'm concerned, it looks like I needn't bother patronising *those* establishments again, ever.

Perhaps the ebay guy doesn't want to send his product out of the country for some reason other than being rude. Perhaps his printers (or whatever they are) are hot and he doesn't want to send them through customs????? Perhaps his box is not sturdy enough to make it through the rigors of customs? There are actually plenty of companies that don't ship outside the US, and I always assumed it was because of customs or duty, not because they dislike Canada, Mexico, or anyother country.
