Stupid things you did/believed as a kid

At one point the news kept talking about the viking missions to mars...I thought they were talking about the real vikings and kept looking for long boats

I used to believe that if you touched a wall, a big face would come out and threaten or try to eat you - this rule applied especially in the bathroom, for some reason
And if you didn't shut your bedroom curtains at night, Death came to the window to stare at you....
When I was very small, I believed that I was a boy, but no-one had noticed! I know I'm a tomboy, but that's taking it a bit far!

I saw a girl floating on her back in a swimming pool without moving any limbs. I tried it myself and failed miserably so I reasoned she must have a built in propellor in her back.

When I was a kid I believed that adults knew what was going on and always did the right thing and knew everything.

I beleived in Santa... could swear I heard 'jingle bells' some Xmas eves... used to spend ages looking out the window for the sleigh as well... annoyed my mum and dad as they wanted me asleep to place the stocking on my bed and go to bed themselves...

I left a bottle of lemonade out for Santa. In the morning I found a note of thanks. I was chuffed that Santa had the same handwriting as my mum.

I was under the understanding they sold heroin, as well as other assorted illegal substances, at Superdrug too...

I thought it was funny when I left out port or some alcoholic drink, by morning it disappeared, but when i left a non-alcoholic drink (milk) there was always at least half left....

Tainted a bit by bitterness and depression -
But when I was a kid, as was mentioned, I believed that adults knew what they were talking about and were (almost) always right. I believed that the people who were picking on me at school would grow up and grow out of their childish taunts and behaviours. I was told "If you ignore them, they'll go away" - The realisation came when the advice and promises I was given by the adults never came true. The people never went away when I ignored them, and they still haven't grown up. I see adults of 40, 50 years behaving just like those kids at school - not only in the international media (Bush. Blair. Howard. Hussein.) - but adults, people who I'm supposed to look up to, in my own life.

I used to believe if i was bad I would go to hell and if I was good I would live for ever in heaven. Silly what we believe when we are children.
