Saw ticket inspectors at Waterloo last Friday - both exiting the platform in the morning and again as I caught my train in the evening

Lemon Opal Fruits (not with lime). They were always my favourites. Sorry Starbursts as they are now.

It is difficult to get decent pie&mash these days, thought hardly anyone knew about it though. There is one in croydon but it isn't terribly good. There is still a great one on Crisp St in poplar - not sure if the one in Brixton is still there.

Lightman Posted Feb 14, 2003
Why was it so exciting when at a train station, to insert a coin into a machine, and punch out one's name?
Thanks for the memory Gnomon, now I can place it back in that obscure place of my mind, i rarely use.

We get bottles of milk too - I find the milk stays fresher for longer - but they are the short stumpy bottles not the nice elegant long ones we used to have in the 70s...talking of which who remembers "Watch out, watch out, there's a Humphrey about!" the campaign for Unigate's introduction of semi-skimmed milk with a red top I believe!

I am old enough to have used computer punch cards, and I remember the cry of dispair when someone dropped a large pack.
Indoor fireworks seem to have disappeared.
