Things to do before you turn 30
kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Started conversation Feb 4, 2003
I recently turned 29.
I have realised that I really will have to be 30 (although I am considering calling it 29a) and have been taking stock of the things I have done so far that Inever thought I would, the things I thought I would have done by now and haven't, and the things I really ought to do. There are 352 days left to the big day and I'm making a list of the stuff I should do before I get there, and I could do with some help.
So far I have got:
1) Go skinny dipping.
2) Make a will.
3) See the aurora borealis.
4) Go to a posh do wearing no knickers.
5) Learn how to apply make-up properly (ie have a make up lesson from a professional)
6) Get fit enough to be able to run 5 miles. (note I only said be able to - not actually do it
7) Be on TV.
Can you wonderful people suggest some more things I really ought to do before I grow up?

Abandon all hope?!
No, just don't grow up - it's overrated, or so I'm told. I heard someone else doing something similar - 40 things she'd never done before in the year of he 40th b'day. Do 'em if you want to but just don't do the growing up.
Take it from one who started going through her second adolescence at about 35 (and at 42 probably still hasn't emerged from it...)

I wouldn't get sucked into all that stuff about "the big 3 - 0", you still wake up that morning feeling the same. But if you want to be adventurous you could try Dicing. There are books out about it. Some people have tried it and got into lots of adventures. Other than that, read a lot I guess. Meet lots of people. Be open to new things.

Actually the only thing you should care about is number 2, as you never know what may happen.
All the others are independent of age.
Matbe you can add the weight you are aiming at, and how far it is still away. But you seem to do fine with that (unless you started at 200+ kg)

Not going to abandon all hope yet - saving that for when I turn 40
I have been meaning to do point 2 for ages and am hoping that the spur of a milestone might actually get me to pull my finger out and actually do it. I am determined to turn 30 in better shape than I was when I turned 20 and I'm on my way to doing it, but I'd like some fun things to do as well as serious things...
Parachute jump maybe? Definitely need to sort out #2 before I do that...

7) Channel 4's RI:SE is a breakfast TV show, filmed live in a massive apartment style building in London.
After advert breaks they always have a live view of the street below.
I don't know the name of the street, but there is a pub clearly visible, get the name of the pub, find the street, you're a superstar !
Sneijder
(although, the viewing figures are on the floor, about 80,000 at the moment more people watch 'Noddy' on C5, so best do it quick before it gets axed !!)

I had a few hours hours lessons in parachute jumping at 55. Flew only a few metres, then sprained an ankle at landing.

Oooooh! Thanks for the tip! Now I just have to watch RI:SE enough to get an idea of where it is filmed
That and keep my eye out for outside broadcasts where I could loiter in the background...

If you want to absolutely guarantee being on TV then you only have to be around the paddock at a top horse racing meeting. If you're lucky you can get in the same shot as the queen

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Feb 4, 2003
I've known a few people who've appeared in Eastenders : As extras, and they actually got paid!; some nothing fee.... Basically they want some people to be a croud in teh market or whatever, then they just take literaterally anyone and give 'em a twenty quid not or something, well, so I was told.... Which could mean its a load of pickled meggadonkey's ; Make sure you pick the right time of the year for skinny dipping; We did it one night, in the north sea, at about 3 AM, in December, after drinking several small Loch's of wisky, which was probably the reason it seemed like a good idea at the time I don't know how we didn't get hypothermia More sense was when we went in teh sea at Torquay, I think that was May or June And, a very hot year parachuting? Never appealed to me... But then again, neither has naked crockadile wrestling, or that jumping of bridges with rubbar bands tied to your waist

I'll definitely try and choose somewhere warm for my skinny-dip!
I'm going to add:
8) Have sex outdoors without getting arrested.

Need any help with number eight? One thing I want to do someday, for no particular reason, is jump into a cab, outside one of the London Train stations, and shout "follow that Car!" Just for a laugh

9) Walk down your home street naked. No seriously- ideally around 0300, when the clubbers aren't around and neither's the milkman. Bruce and I do it for a laugh in the summer, it just feels like so much *fun*. Okay, clearly I'm getting odd looks now...

No 8 Easy, go camping keeping quiet is the tricky bit
Well I turned 30 last year and managed quite a few on your list.
I'm having more fun now than I did at 25, it's 'just' a matter of deciding to sort your life out and get on and *do* stuff

I feel that being inside a tent is cheating...
I have done it before, but the extra spice of it being specifically illegal now means that it goes back onto the list
I don't want to make too many of these things about sex and nakedness - people will think I'm obsessed or something
I like the taxi thing!

I'm with 2legs there - if only to see where you end up
I think one should have spent a night behind bars too - nothing serious, just drunk and disorderly perhaps - wouldn't want to get a criminal record after all. ...

Those are all good ones Stephen
I can't put them on my list because I've done them all but everyone else is welcome to use them!
I'd like to add 'Get married' but my boyfriend goes white at the mention of the 'm' word As he is the one I have fallen in love with I guess it isn't going to happen in the next 351 days...
