It goes Queen - Facehugger - Host - Alien. Presumably some of the aliens are male so they can fertilize the queen.
However I think the interesting villains are the ones that are not through and through evil. I think having a villain who´s evil for the sake of evil is a sign of bad writing. I prefer someone like Lex Luthor in Smallville or Gaius Baltar from BSG.

I fully agree with that philosophy, but it just struck me that one of the cooler sci-fi baddies might just be the Cigarette smoking man. Not sure if he can be described as greatly multi-faceted, even though he's given many good reasons for doing what he does, and he did have a brilliant episode in season 4 or five where they explained even more about him.

WOW! Was amazed to find this thread resurrected...
I was watching Sleepy Hollow the other night.I was wondering then which actor has portrayed the best baddy.I reckon that Christpher Walken has covered a few as has Rutger Hauer and Dennis Hopper.

I always tend to like actors who play a real baddie against type, such as Charles Dance in "Last Action Hero" rather than the likes of Gary Oldman who's made a career of it.
The best I've seen in a long time is Johnny Depp as the psychotic CIA agent in "Once upon a time in Mexico".

Does J R Ewing count?
Hannibal the Cannibal?
The Queen/Witch in Return to Oz, which is the scariest film EVER. When all her heads wake up it's terrifying.
I liked Scorpius from Farscape.
There are still real-life villans that kick all their asses though!
