Poems and Limericks in Honour of Mark Moxon
Sam Started conversation Aug 2, 2002
Inspired by Lord Preston's poem dedicated to Mark Moxon ('Editor Leaves for Intergalactic Cruise' thread on this page), I propose we start a 'Poems in Honour of Mark Moxon' thread here! I shall kick off with a poem wot I wrote all by myself.
El capitano, Il duce, Mark Moxon
Would rarely have odd socks on
And as the word litotes
Rhymes with goatees
I don't think that'll it do any harm for me to point out to you in this thread that not infrequently did Mark Moxon have one
I had a little trouble scanning in the last line. Also, thematically, it does seem to wander a bit. Apart from that though, I think Andrew Motion might well have something to worry about.
Can you match this? Can you do any better?! Please leave your Poems and Limericks in Honour of Mark Moxon here.

Like A505577 ?
Mark Moxon
coveted his neighbour's oxen.
He wasn't a yahoo,
but the Editor of h2g2

Or another
Mark Moxon
compared the BBC to a toxin.
His manager felt this wasn't appropriate decorum,
so Mark edited his post in that forum.

Mark Moxon
liked to put Peta's frocks on.
Though that could be a lie I've just in created.
(I wouldn't want to be moderated)

Cheers to Mark Moxon who steered us from TDV
to the shiny server-shore of the mighty BBC
Not as good as I planned

There was a young fellow called Moxon
Whose faced looked like it had a fox on.
He gave it a shave
Then caught the next wave
And is mindsurfing with the great Bebbelbrox one.

There was a young fellow called Moxon
Who tried one of Peta's frocks on.
But a tight leather skirt
Caused a cry 'Boy that hurt'
And now we only puts hers socks on.

I would like ot point out that the word young is the correct perspective from this author's point of view.

Max Moron's an alias for Mark
that he'll sometimes adopt as a lark
to make Auntie Beeb frown
or if the site's going down
just to show that he can't give a fark.

There once was an h2g2 editor
Who walked round the office a preditor
It made Peta all tight
Gave Sam and Ashley a fright
And the BBC called in the auditors.

Also muß wohl bald ein Meet-up her
Sonst schleppt man an den Zetteln schwer
Und ist er wieder dabei,
konvertieren wir die Moxons frei.

The Moxon as a meet-up currency
Converts to „fermented-in-the-bottle“
[No matter how much the head hurts afterwards
One meets him online at the BBC]
The Moxon exported to Africa
Isn’t even enough for a tip there
Thus we’ll need a meet-up soon
Else we carry around all that paper
And if he attends, too
We’ll freely convert the Moxons

Varous researchers met up in Nodnol
To drink copious amouns of alcohol
Without the need for cash
To the bar they all dashed
With Moxons a currency the extol

Incidentally, how is this an announcement? Wouldn't <./>Askh2g2</.> be a more appropriate place to post this? I didn't realise that Sam having an idea was such a momentous event...

Mark, Mark, the man with the powers,
Sitting up there in the fabled Towers.
Dispensing wisdom and Moxon's galore,
Before running off to the Lion's roar.
We'll all miss your talk, both sensible and wierd,
But at no point will we pine for that awful beard.
I think I'll stick to the day job.

Go and read Uncle Heavy's A790175 (Use of Apostrophes), and beat yourself with a large stick until you remember not to use an apostrophe with a plural...

Not a limerick, but a minimalist Japanese poetic form from the 17th century.
It's called a Meyagi
Here goes.....
