there was one show, can't see mention of it here (but only scaned backlog) that I can't remeber name, maybe "Worlds End" about a two guys and a female stripper (complete with snake) living in a flat upstairs of the pub - I think the World's End, that had about three customers.
It may have run for two series. Anyone remember it?

could you have imagined it? After, say, eating some hand picked mushrooms?

nope and nope.
I am sure it was real and not quite the season yet (so I am told )
Was very bleak, some big company trying to take over pub.
Surely I wasn't the only one to watch it, let's see if http://jumpingtheshark.com/ has a listing........
.....nope, not under Wolds End, but that may not have been the title.
Oh well

female stripper, large snake, almost deserted pub, begins to sound like one.

Well Dude, if it was a dream, take the idea to Sky. They'll show anything plus it sounds like a slightly cruder and darker version of that piece of filth Time Gentlemen Please which was shown on Sky One last year.

Does anyone remember BUGS? I don't think it made it into the 3rd series as I remember feeling quite upset about it at the time. I think I had a bit of a thing for Mucky Marcus from Eldorado at the time and he starred in it, along with Craig Mcglachlin of Aussie soap fame. It was about a small espionage company that used bits of equipment to foil the baddies. A sort of cross between Mission impossible and FX (that film with Micheal Caine) but on a lower budget.

I remember BUGS...it was like a cheaper s***ier version of MacGyver...not that MacGyver was ever going to win any awards for special effects or storylines.

In my teens (back in mid-80s) I really enjoyed the Tony Robinson programme "Tales From Fat Tulip's Garden". There was a 2nd series More Tales or Tales Too. But I've never seen it repeated since, and unfortunately it was seen as commercially unviable. Shame ...

I remember Dick Spanner
It *must* have run for more than two episodes, surely . I'm sure I saw it quite a few times (unless they just kept repeating those two episodes).
I think it was part of Def 2 (early '90s "yoof" programmes) but I'm not sure.

"There were at least three series of The New Statesman, maybe four. Still running on Granada Plus or some similar channel I believe."
I think there were several episodes of The New Statesmen until 1990, when they (apparently) ended the series with Alan visiting the USSR and ending up in a Siberian prison-camp.
They resurrected it a few years later (anyone know when? - there was a joke about Squeegee merchants) with Alan becomming a Euro MP. The first episode was very good, but it got progressively worse. They ended with Alan splitting the Conservative Party, winning a General Election and appointing himself "Lord Protector" in the style of Oliver Cromwell. It may have been a hastily-rewritten last in the series (in order to finish the series off for good) due to poor viewing figures (certainly poor reviews).

I meant to say "series" not "episodes" and "about 1990", I may have the year wrong.

Dick Spanner was on late night Channel 4, but it was also shown earlier on when it was repeated, before the news weeknights, I believe.
Just so you know bro.

"Dick Spanner was on late night Channel 4"
not Def 2, then. I think it was contemporous with it, anyways.

The problem is that I want them on video!!! They were released years ago but then got deleated and are no longer for sale.
There were only two stories made, but they were shown in 5 minute segments.

I think Nightingales ran for two series. I've got two tapes with episodes on, but not necessarily every episode, and I haven't got that far in archiving my VHS collection to DVD (43 DVDs archived from 60 tapes so far ) so I don't know what I've got.
