Absolutely. Alan Alda said he was a feminist because he hated to see the waste of talent and ability that came about from sexism. Feminism is a political idea. If Nadine Gordimer and other white South Africans could credibly campaign against apartheid, then men can be feminists too.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like

I don't see why not.
Michael Moorcock's always been very vocal on the subject...

Any person who is for the rights of women to be equal to the rights of men is a feminist. smiley - smiley

Although I wonder if the same term applies when women have the upper hand, and having equal rights means losing something...

I think men can be feminists - in fact, it's good to see that not all men are of the 'we are superior and that's that' type smiley - biggrin

A female to male transexual is not, and never has been, a woman, other than externally.
The structure of a man's brain differs substantively from that of a woman. A female to male transexual has the brain structure of a man.
Having grown up with all around it expecting it to conform to their idea of femininity it will be more inclined towards feminism than most of you 'normal' men and women.

Apologies for the pronoun Zed. One was using it to apply to oneself, since one has always been an it. No disrespect was intended to others.

You have never been a laboratory animal, a fur seal or, perhaps, a member of a minority race or religion, but can you not still empathise , believe in and fight for their cause?

You have never been a female but you have been treated as a female.
You were at some stage, presumably, expected to show an interest in girlie things and choose a female career.

You may have been mocked and even ostracised by the little fluff-heads for being different, but you have experienced the discrimination when others perceived you as a girl.
Surely it rankled more that you were not permitted to behave like the other boys?
