In the REM song "the sidewinder sleeps tonight" what the **** are the actual words in the chorus that sound like "calling Jamaica?"

the autist formerly known as flinch

When this record came out Micheal Stipe was asked this a lot in interviews and was very reticent about saying what it was, but gave a few possible lines it could be and intimated that sometimes it was one and sometimes another, the ambiguity being part of the idea of the line.

I always thought it was "Coming in to wake her up", but once i'd read the other versions Stipe suggested i must admit it sound like all of them!

Great song though. And the last decent REM record (exept possibly the new one).

"Beside yourself, if radio's gonna stay
Reason: it could polish up your day
Put that, put that on your wall
That this isn't country at all"

Err, can't remember much else. But it's obvious, innit?
