Turning on the light when your hands are full

Post 1

Gnomon - time to move on

Do you ever use your nose to turn on the light, as you go into a dark room with your hands full?

Am I the only one who does this?

I appreciate that this is a lot easier to do in the UK and Ireland where the switches can be pushed, rather than the US where they have to be "flipped".

Nose or forehead, but I think forehead more often, particularly if I'm trying to push the bottom-half of the switch rather than the top half.

I do this and also use door handles with my feet. Yep I'm definately some sort of freak.

I have used my nose. Sparingly.

But I tend to go with the elbow, if that's at all possible.

I've used my nose, my shoulder, and occasionally my foot - but I'm not quite that flexible these days...

I've used nose, forehead and elbow in the past... my usual procesdure is to use whatever's in my hands at the time. On one occasion I used a cup of tea.

Never the nose that I can remember - usually elbow/back of hand, perhaps shoulder or chin. Frequently use feet to switch sockets on/off.

Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry!

I do that too - I can turn the light on or off using the edge of a plate without spilling any of the contents smiley - biggrin.

But I also use my nose or forehead to switch lights on or off on occasion. As my hands are usually full, I never got the hang of using my elbow to do it.

I've used my foot to shut and open doors too - I think I have very mobile toes smiley - weird.

No, I tend to use the forehead. Some of the switches in my house have quite a stiffish action, and the nose is too flexible to make a painless job of it.

Forehead for me too, my nose is too small and squashy smiley - biggrin

I tend to use my chin. And I won't just set my plate/glass down and use my hand, even if it takes me ages! smiley - smiley

nose or forehead. Or elbow whatever comes to hand really.

But in actual fact, what I will more normally do, is navigate the room in the dark, since I have a small house and I live on my own so I know where everything is. Then I'll put down said items and use my hands.

Do you have enough light perception to make having lights on worthwhile? I suppose it helps make a place look occupied - as well as helping sighted visitors!

Bah! If I were blind or partially sighted I'd have no lights at all and laugh evilly when guests crash into things.

Well the lights in my bedroom and I think also the spare room haven't had functional bulbs in em for years smiley - biggrin I have a sighted lodger and sighted guests (as well as partially sighted friends) so there are lights in the downstairs hallway/stairwell, (but not in the upstairs one as they blew out a while back) and the front room /kitchen etc If I had my way I'd brick the bluddy windows up smiley - winkeye I do have a very* little bit of light and dark perception, but not enough to be of any use smiley - dohsmiley - magic

I've never used my nose for it - I guess it would hurt if I did. It's usually my elbow, or, failing that, my shoulder. smiley - smiley
